Acouple of wrong things I have noticed:
the two tabs in the headlight, need to slot in the headset (you'll see two little cut outs inside the headset rim)
the clutch and front brake cables are routed wrong.
Here a couple of videos (they are in italian but you can just see where the cables go):
Clutch
The front brake is similar but it obviously comes out throught the fork tube
On the next video, you see the 3 cables on the left, 2 for the gears and one for the clutch (the clutch one need to sit behind the gear ones). The one on the right is the throttle.

Thanks for the comments and help. I've refitted the light since the photo with the tabs inside. Well spotted! As for the cables coming out of the headset I was advised I had them wrong so changed them to this: Hopefully that's correct! I guess the cables going inside the handlebar tubes is wrong? They should go in the slots behind, then out and through the first cut out in the bars and into the stop. Looks like a headset strip down.. again! Aaaargh! Also with the engine in place I decided to re-check it would kick it over. Nope! Moves about an inch. The flywheel will move by hand and a bit of force so the piston is moving so I'm guessing that there is a problem with the kickstart cog. I'm going to have to split the engine aren't I? There is a can of 5 litres of petrol on the garage floor. I'm thinking of adding it to the scooter.... plus a match.

Re: the headset and cable routing Looks as though I already spotted the problem and have addressed them. Well, at least the clutch side anyway. Have a look... I think this side may still be wrong though?

Its your employers firewall / internet access permissions kicking in. Very frustrating as it affects me to. Unfortunately I don't think a request to increase my internet access so that I can look at pictures of scooters all day would go down that well. Now if i can just think of a valid reason I need to be able to access flickr etc....

They are used to me spending my lunchtimes looking at scooters... and probably don't know about the rest...

Well it's nearly time to start it. Engine problem solved, after splitting it 4 times, by fitting a 2 piece bearing on the flywheel side and converting it to a Pollini reedvalve. Engine now installed with a new standard exhaust, cables connected, carb fitted, and tank fitted. Levers and stand changed to correct period ones. It's now standing on it's wheels for the first time in many years. Only the light switch to wire, fill with oil and petrol and then kick it over. Then you can buy it.

Well it's finally finished. Took it to Wildcat Scooters for some final fettling. They changed the jets, did the timing and changed a a bolt and a brake cable clip. It runs perfectly but will need a dyno run to set up the jets for optimum performance.
It's now time to sell it so I can move on to an ET3 project. Do you think £2750 is a fair price?

looking at the cdi, is it fitted with the two rubber bushes? they do help protect the unit from vibration and if you turned it the correct way round you could use a shorter HT lead and all the other wires could be routed in a tidier way
