As per my project thread I managed to make a DIY version of this SIP tool to hold the bearings and spring in place when fitting the gear selector on the shaft. I found in my shed some plastic tyre levers from Wilkos, here theyre only £1.25 I basically took two, hacksawed one end of them so they're square, then drilled an indent on one of them in the side near the squared end like the SIP tool. With a bit of filing they're exactly the right width to fit in the slot on the shaft. The little indent stops the bearing from slipping sideways as you press it down in to place Worked really well to the point that after I'd fitted it once but then slipped trying to adjust the gear and accidentally pulled the selector off completely, when I went to put it back on again using these I did it first time.
