Picked this bajaj up afew weeks ago now. Took all the crap chrome off and changed the single seats for something better. 2nd one ive owned and it seems just as reliable as the last one. Bought a dr180 kit off an italian shop on ebay and the head needs alot of work before fitting.Got a p2 24/24 carb. Also got a decent pipe so just got to figure out if a px race crank will fit or not. Also it doesnt like pulling 4th as theres a massive gap between 3rd and 4th so if the kit and pipe dont fix it i`ll have to look into a short 4th too.

from memory, the baja "classic's" got a small taper super/sprint two port engine type crank . way to tells pull the fly n measure taper or see if a px fly will fit .if it isnt a large taper crank the flyside bearing wont be a roller like px too, but same size as clutch side 1 . how ya gettin on with the super/sprint/rally type forks , i like mine on my hack, but the drum brake an "headshaking/dive" scares the crap out of some .H

Cheers for the crank info H. Do you know if the px stator will fit to the cases? I might see if I can figure the wiring out to convert it to px crank, stator and flywheel. I don't mind the forks tbh. You kind of get used to it. Although I wouldn't like to have to use the front brake in an emergency stop. I'll probably fit a sip damper and spring at some point tho.

ive looked at the sip 2-way damper for mine , put off a bit by end of description saying " this wont cure but will improve it" . am too tight to spend for improvements ,a bit more an i can maybe pick up px drum forks or pk 1's. an my experience of new springs is they all turn up over-long an need cutting, not had a sip 1 tho. not sure if a px crank will fit the cases ,but have seen large taper conversion cranks for 2 port cases advertised ,pinasco i think . an depending on cases ,my baja 1's could be, theres enuff meat at join to carve a 3rd port .not quite full size but enuff to use a 3 port barrel on it .a px stator should fit the cases easily ,an if cranks small taper a pk small taper fly will work,or swap centres from ya points to a lectronic px one . an 1 trick ive learnt is ,always use back brake ahead of front ,settles scoot down an lessens the headshake . I never touch a scooters front brake unless theres a chance of immanent death lol.I dont think you`ll ever cure the front suspension as its just a bad design but i find it one of the quirky little things i love about scooters. It looks like it still has the original damper and the rubber has split so it needs replacing anyway and i`d rather get the best i can. My last badger had the 3 port cases and barrel as standard but i know its abit of a lottery on wether they fited the 2 or 3 port engines. I had a skeg on ebay and you can get the 3 port lml cases for around 120 delivered plus customs fee so i might go down that route yet. Working right in the city centre at mo so its slowness wont annoy me too much til i can hatch a cunning plan.

So engines out now and i can confirm its a 3 port engine yay. Sip do a large taper 60mm crank to fit this engine as it has the funny oil seals so will be getting that. Just need to figure out how to get rid of the 4th gear gap and i`ll be rebuilding the motor.
