Building the Mrs a little runaround. Its her bike, but Im building/paying for it. Not at the divorce stage yet, (although we're not married), but 'discussions' are heated. I want this She wants this Trying to tell her "having a carb sticking out is the bolx, some of my bikes have open carbs" Her reply was, "yes, but non of your bikes work!" Opinions please Gentlemen. Will be cutting, or not, at weekend.

sorry mate , but "managements bike=managements decision" , the customer is always "right" even when there wrong ,more so when its domestic . i'm a "anything for a quiet life" type philosophy , give in gracefully knowing your right all along, the fringe benefits will make up for the scratches up ya arms from tryin to set up a big carb in a little space .H

i like the ease of working on an outboard carb but the risk of crap getting in the carb is not worth it for a road scoot. also that manifold looks very long for an outboard carb, the stubby NFK ones were only about 50mm long

I was an outy for years, now an inny. Agree with Steve, stubby outy's are neat and less prone to leak coz the carbs nearer the block. You'll only have to rebuild the engine if her right stiletto heel breaks off and goes down the carb!

I'm for stealth. If I had the money and inclination to go for a balls out Falc or Parma reverse I'd be more than happy to have the carb hanging out of the side of the panel. Short of that I'd not bother.

I'd say an inny for me , I like the clean lines of a Vespa and an outy will upset that .

Shame you can't use the cut frame to jet this engine and then transplant into an uncut frame, the practical side of me likes having the carb right there to fiddle with/kick in the face but I have to agree with the majority that aesthetically it looks better inside. Now if it was a PK we were talking about...

I used to run a lammy for a short while with a genuine Rayspeed 225 motor and fresco exhaust, sounded lovely and when it went, it went well Didn't have side panels though and one day it just didn't seem to want to go, everytime I opened the throttle it seemed to die on me, turns out my boot lace had come undone and the carb was trying to eat it! Inny definately for me.
