Latest news of the racing in Joigny south of paris is that in the big cc class that the first 5 places from timed practise are 1 Stuart Day 2 Charlie Edmonds 3 Bert Coneeley 4 Chris Geyton 5 John Howe 6 and onwards- the rest of the world.. waiting confirmation on this and the race results. Not bad eh since they have never been there before and this is a Kart type track. Also heard some lads are cooking brakes! Ooops.

Charlie won all races in his class I believe. Sticky won the up to 150 class!!! Well done to em both.. so basically the lads went over and won on the tiddely track. It was so small that they said they only used first and second. That would drive me mad.

It was so small that they said they only used first and second. That would drive me mad. It wasn't quite as small as that - lots of grumbling from the Brits on Friday practise but they got used to it for Sat and did well. I don't think anyone didn't use 3rd. I geared down and used all 4 gears. If the French were 4 seconds a lap slower than Charlie then that's because the fastest of them were on road/race P-ranges!!! - probably making little more than 20hp and doing a good job of keeping the gear selector boxes off the floor by hanging off like gibbons. Considering that racing over there is only developing I think mostly they did pretty good. To be fair the track had 'smallframe' written all over it, but 6 of my competitors were on Quattrinis and those in second and third claimed over 22hp to my 17.5hp (once I'd dropped the main jet from 380 to 280 after the dyno shoot out!). There weren't any Germans from the ESC series there though, or I feel the result may have been slightly different... Considering that there is a road class for anyone to enter it would be a great place for the SF forumites to go next year just for the crack.

I wanted to go there but did not have any means of transport. So i am to convince the missus that we need a camper van, rather than an every day car for her

The track I heard was pretty small just over half a mile . About half the size of 3 sisters..is that right?

It was 1km I think (0.62 miles) with probably a 150m straight. I have the interchangeable Taff primary set, close ratio 4th and 3.50 tyre. Changed from 25T primary to 23T which allowed me to use all 4 gears.
I much prefer fast tracks too, but this one was good for a smallie.

What the cowling being eaten by the flywheel - er yep that's the one.
3 wins out of 3 to the scrappy old Polini (went a bit better after we dropped the main jet from a 380 to a 280!)
