What are the regulations and specs needed for each category? Once I've finished my road Scoot I'm going to build a race engine, what's the entry level specification? I know it has to be rotary intake but what's the rules on watercooled stuff. Cheers.

You won't be allowed LC in anything but the "Special" classes.
As I understand things standards must retain standard induction type, standard stroke crankshaft although conrod length can be changed, no adding or removal of material to the cases other than porting. The best place to check for sure would be the BSSO "Fast scooter" forum and website.

Yeah, you'd hope the best place was the Fast Scooter forum, but I'm afraid it's as clear as mud in a wine glass- though the guys do know it and are working on it. Basically as Juan says. Put on any generally available rotary kit tune as far as you can without going through/adding metal. Join the forum and ask questions, we want you racing! Dave

if yr not allowed weld are you allowed to add chemical metal ? as using the rotary the port very easilly breaks through the case getting the inlet good

No, no adding of any material, only to affect a "repair"

breaking through the case porting needs a repair

Yes it does, and you'd be surprised at how often that happens! though the repair should take you back to the original size. It used to be used on Lambretta transfers on the old cast barrels, keep porting until you go through then braze it up, smooth it out. Did it on my grp2 ss90 back in the 80's on the inlet - but not the seal - they used to be fairly hot on that. Using a long seal case it's not really necessary & if you were to do it I doubt anyone would worry.
