I managed to get a set of PX 150 casings for my Spanish GS project and have now purchased a sexy looking pinasco 177 kit. I've not really done much in the way of large frame engine rebuilds but want to try a mild road tune and have a couple of questions..... I'm a bit skint so want to try and do this as cheaply as possible so gearbox wise would a PX200 gearbox go straight into a PX150 casing without issue? And would it be ok for the Pinasco kit? Like, it won't be too tall or anything? I was going to match the crankcase transfers to the barrel but there doesn't look like much meat to play with on the casings so is it advisable to weld some alloy around where I need to enlarge the ports? I'm also thinking a P200 carb? (again for cheapness!) Mazzuchelli race crank + cosa clutch. And the Pitone exhaust will be the piece d' resistance Does this setup look like a fairly good idea? Cheers, Rog

Leave the standard 'box and find out what clutch is in there, newer 150's should have a 22 tooth Cosa type anyway which should be fine.
Porting should be no real issue either, the Pinasco is fairly reserved as standard. Use the P2 carb and cut standard crank.
I've not had one in decades but a German lad I was talking to at a Rally about 4 years ago said to use a Polini 177 'head to up the compression a bit on the Pinasco.

It's an old non-autolube px150 casing so unfortunately no cosa clutch I'm going to play with gearboxes tonight so will see what looks best, not even sure if I have the original gearbox so I may have to put a P200 one in there......if it will fit! Not sure how much it would cost to split the crank and cut it, or even if the conrod is properly straight so still tempted to go for the Mazz crank because it's still fairly cheap and used a couple before in smallies and never had probs. Cheers, Rog

Yea go for the new crank, false economy as they are not that expensive £80 quid ish. I am sure the 200 box will fit but only ever changed the 200's. Worth getting the cosa clutch as they are smoother and last longer than the old style. If the 200 box fits fine then you will need a 24 tooth clutch not 22. Also match the casings to the cylinder or at least chamfer the edges, also do the same on the cylinder on all ports with a dremel just take the sharp edes off where the rings pass. These little tweaks all add a little to the performance.

I would recomend you a cut crank, si24 carb and a PM pipe and as Juan mentioned a polini head if you want more power. Do not use a dremel on the ports in the barrel, they are very smoth and you will only take the crome off. If you used a polini then you would have to work on the ports.

130 kmh sounds about right for the Pinasco. What set up are you running?

i'm using a px200clutch,cut my crank, standart exzaust,24-24 carb,n my casing has been ported...thats all by using mazuchulie crank, can it increase my top speed... i'm feeling that the 130km/h is very slow for me..

Pinasco designed the kit for a 60mm crank so they tend to have very low compression and huge squish. Hence that's why the Polini 'head works well (I'm told) as Patrick and myself mentioned earlier in the thread. I'd also say get rid of the 200 23 cog clutch and use a 150 22 cog item instead.

I'll change the exhaust too mate. The standard one is a bit restricted.

No, but a Quattrini is. However, I'd work with what you have first. I'm guessing you're not in the UK?
Exhaust wise I'd go either Sito+ or Simonini, there's more expensive choices but being honest either of those will work well at a reasonable cost. If, for example, you fit a Simo and you're still far from happy then perhaps think of another kit. Honestly, the Pinasco is fantastic if not hugely powerful but it can be made very useable.

I use a pipe from "Pipe Design" in Germany, a "Charger" with my Malossi 221 setup. He does a "Charger 177" & a "Bullet 177" havn´t tried them myself yet but if they are as good as "Charger 220" then they will be VERY good with a really good punch! But a bit expensive... pipedesign.de/engine/index.php

Yep, baffleless Pitone, sounds lovely ;D although going past horses is a problem, I live out in the sticks and every weekend there's loads of guys on horses riding down various country lanes, as soon as I get anywhere near the horses go all scatty! Mwah ha!
