before I split the casing and have a looksee.
My PX wont kick over. The problem has been develloping for a while and instead of getting it looked at I ignored it as I didn;t have the space to do it. Basically, occasionally the kick start sort of doesn't engage sometimes. It feels a bit like the clutch is pulled in but still has resistance and it doesn't seem to turn the engine. I could get around it by gently prodding the kickstart a little til it felt like it was engaging and it usually worked.
But now it is like this all the time and I can't get it to kick over.
It is a lightly tuned malossi 210 with a cosa clutch

I guess the simple first check would be taking the clutch cover off and see what's going on in there.
From the sounds of it, that's the only place where a slip could be happening.
I had a P200 engine where it felt like the clutch was slipping at higher revs whilst riding, when I looked at the clutch the basket had split and the crank had a damaged woodruff slot with a chip out of one side. It was on a rally (Margate I think) and luckily I was able to get a new basket from a stall and the broken part of the crank was found. I bolted it all up tight and it got me home ok.

Cosa clutches are notoriously shite and although they have a nice action they are really weak and will take bugger all punishment. £20 says that's your problem.
As for no-where to work on it did you not mention it to Mikey C at the weekend there passed?

A couple of lads on here that know considerably more than me and built far more powerful motors, Oz and Diablo, use the old style 7 spring unbanded. That's good enough for me.

Boss, Mikey uses Rich Cowies place and I can't get it in there for ages (Carla's primmy is in first - soon I hope as shee needs it for the Peterhead rally at Mintlaw - you going?) and I was manning the BBQ all day and Mikey was hiding under the gazebo out of the rain I'll catch them at their next club meeting. I have had a similar problem before and I can;t remember what it was but it needed a full rebuild! Onto the ETS on Wednesday ;D
