First time at Shiny Red Tuning. I took my v100 up to have it's jetting sorted.
Went up on Saturday with The Don "I don't have a caffettiera" Max to meet Daz at Shiny's in Stroud. Was just a bit blown away by the hospitality and welcome at Shiny's workshop. Really top folks, thanks a bunch Gary and Kim (and staffy!) .
I booked in for a 'setup' and came away with about 8 dyno runs and loads of carb swapping, jetting and so on. Kim and Gary were just the best hosts one could expect, honestly. Loads of advice and helpful tips.
(Oh and thanks to Daz "Brighton" for the coffee and tea! )
So after all the dyno runs my setup stil spiked very lean between 5,000 and 7,000 rpm, no matter what we did with the carb it wouldn't sort itself out. Gary "chuck the delly in the bin" didn't think it was an air leak so for kicks we stuck a 28mm flat slide Mikuni carb on (jetted for a 183 dragster) and the spike disappeared! Yeah it was running rich as hell but I managed to hit over 11bhp on my little setup. The AFR read straight and clean...
Anyway, my setup as is at the moment puts out 10.8 bhp with a lovely bit of torque at 7,500 rpm. I'll be going back when I can sort a different carb as my setup doesn't like the 24mm PHBL I have on there at the moment. Will also look at timing for optimum power and Shiny thinks he can squeeze 12.5 out of my setup.
Overall well chuffed for a self build 130 Parmakit and PM40 exhaust.
Thanks to Max and Daz and good to meet you fella! Let me know about the shocker...
This was the last run just to check AFR on the 24mm carb vs. 28mm carb. Thanks Max for the vid.
