Does the inner ring of the split crankshaft bearing type need a separation from the wall or end of the crankshaft? Some thing like in SIP: 60007000 ?? It looks like the crankshaft I bought has allready that separation of about 1mm.

I've never seen that tool before! I've always seated em all the way.. i suppose the distance will vary motor to motor and to check properly you could build motor without flywheel seal in to look..

The 1mm gap is so the bearing race removal tool can pull the inner race off the crank. Makes no difference to the way the bearing runs if it's fitted flush.

ahh.. Its not for brg alignment then. I used to fit em like that at the shop as Graham told me this..but I reckon to get the two halves central then maybe we should dry build check em. I've never done this though.. its a good topic for sure. I wonder how much they are out generally? We could end up using a 2mm guide to align..
