If it is not the regulator must be a loose wire or earth problem Check connections/earth using a multimeter if poss
hope this helps

Hi Terry, I have checked all the wires, everything seems ok. Could it be a loose wire in the stator plate? Cheers Max.

does horn work? brakelight? also put voltmeter on output from stator, then on output from regulator, check earth continuity as terry said.. otherwise flywheel off and look undeneath for broken wire.

Nothing works. I am just off to buy a voltmeter so I can test the output. I'll keep you posted.

Right, a little update. I have checked the output from the stator with voltmeter and its ok. I have changed back brake switch. Still no lights. I will check wiring with voltmeter next.

Y'know what? I've got a similar problem on the same scoot, only my troubles are a little worse. My lights died, as did my engine, so I asked my garage to do a bodge job, because I needed the scoot ASAP. Got it back, and bizarrely it was putting out 20v for the hi-beam light, and about 1/2 hr of engine time later, I lost the spark again, so I got a look in, turns out the last owner did a real cowboy job in his wiring, and even that was a disgrace to the cowboy name. Looks like a new loom, stator plate and set of points for me...

Hi OliMonster, I have a 12 volts loom on mine and has been working fine for a year. As there is power coming out of the stator, I think a wire must be loose in the handlebars. I just can't be bothered to have a look at the moment as is nice and sunny and I don't need lights(don't tell the local bobby please ). The weekend is supposed to be wet so I will lock myself in the shed and have a good look.

BTW, the original loom was a bad bodge job on mine too.

You have output from stator.. do you have output from the regulator?

Sorry Tony I missed that. Yes I have output from regulator. I had a quick look at wiring didn't spot any problems(it was a really quick look mind ). After I fitted the loom last year, I coulden't get the lights working either so I got someone to look at them for the mot. They where fine untill a couple of weeks ago. The thing is to take the scoot to him I have to take a day off work as he doesn't work weekends. I will have another look tomorrow.

Lights working now. The problem was a loose wire in the handlebars. Thanks everyone for your help.
