I know this is mersea weekend but hopefully I'll be out racing if anyone wants to say hello down there. Its off the A2 on the way to Dover. Dunno if the quick but vibrating engine will be ready or it'll be the lil 135 out but we'll see! Hope to see anyone on the day.

hi oz.. thanks for taking the time. 160 miles round trip to watch someone curse and shout at clutch plates was very decent of you! Nice to have met you anyway and hope that you'll pop along again. Hi Juan..5th in grp 4 in race one..not great but from 19th on grid over 8 laps not too shoddy as the clutch failed after 2 laps. And clutch failure was the order of the weekend. This is the spare engine with malossi single spring etc. they simply cannot hold on to anything over say 16bhp. I'm gutted really..oh well roll on cadwell and hopefully with the 150 Race 2 was a joke and all the motor did was spin up in any gear.. Annoying as it was all ok on the dyno on thursday..but thats racing shopping bikes for you!!

I'm not suprised there doing ok they were found to be 220cc so I've heard after nipping up!! Also check out there next group 4 barrel tony and see if you spot anything outside BSSO spec!! forums.lcgb.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21024Not that I'm bitter but for the last 12 months 'Special X' has been raving about this machine!! 5th in group 4 from 19th sounds awesome Tony!! I'm just deciding whether to put my next 50 special on the track or another road bike.....really fancy having ago but reckon I'd only manage a couple of races a year PS. F&%@$#G CLUTCHES!! ;D

hi ads.. actually did a little better than i thought-4th in race 1. (Phill Bevis had entererd in grp6! )The clutch was dead at the end tho. race two was an embarrassment and I apologise to every one on here! The prime motor is now back from balancers. Billet clutch basket made for 4 plate steel xl2 unit. I've sent sparkrite an xl2 plate with a view to making some carbon/kelvar plates for us all. Ive decided against Cadwell in 2 weeks or so due to the cost.. Re the feckspeed project..yes its illegal. A bit weird too I'd already heard about it from other tuners. Jason spoke to me at Lydden re programmable ignitions and is a nice fella. But will have to start again on a new barrel!!

Hi folks, just popped in for some info on a kit for a 50cc for a mate (on Tony's recommendation) and noticed this thread. One or two of you will know me as the pilot of the feckspeed racer. I feel very embarassed reading this about the illegal engine. That engine was thrown together at the last minute before Anglesey last year, Jason wasn't aware of the cc limit and used the top end from his rally scoot and unbeknown to me it had a 69mm piston, forget the exact cc but around 215/220. Anyway at Anglesey it wouldn't run right as we hadn't had time to get the jetting set up properly. I did 2 practice sessions totalling less than 2 laps before it seized on me. Neither Jason nor Special X were there to help and I'm no mechanic but I took the top end off anyway to see if there was anyway of fixing it. The rings were welded into the piston. It was suggested I ask Phil Bevis (chief scrutineer) if he had a spare piston, so I did, and that's when I found out it was over the grp 4 limit. Had I of known I'd just have changed the colour of the numbers and oval sticker and said it was group 6 and if I'd of known it was illegal then the last person I'd of wanted to show it to was the chief scrutineer. Needless to say it was well and truly fecked and the weekend ended there for us (me and Wellerchap that is) and we skulked off on Saturday afternoon. After that episode we used Special X's spare 186 Mugello road engine at Lydden, Cadwell Park and 3 Sisters. A great combination of the slowest rider on the least powerful machine there. It's now an ex-mugello as I wrecked the top end and twisted the crank at 3 Sisters. There was never any intention to cheat or bend the rules as I could of been kicked out of the ACU for doing so. I'd be quite happy going back to the little Mugello as I'd still be at the back even if you gave me Charlies scoot. I'm only there for some fun and I'll get that dicing at the back with the others who don't like hospital food and plaster of paris (if they still use that). This year we opted for an Indian cast iron barrel with an MB piston and despite the fact that we had it dyno'd (20bhp) it's never run right, limped around Donington, didn't get a race at 3 Sisters as on the reserve list, but dropped it in practice on Sunday and smashed the headset then finally seized it on the sighting lap first race at Oulton. Another (67mm) piston required. I've not entered Mallory as we need to get the rebuilt engine in my road scoot this time and get some miles under it's belt to get the thing jetted somewhere in the right ball park before Anglesey. Adam, I'm not sure which engine it was the Special X was raving about but I wouldn't take it all too seriously, well not with me onboard anyway. Keep your eyes open for me at Anglesey, I'll be the one at the back. Cheers, Martin.
