Yes, its possible. when measured it was with a 3mm base packer. Will need to order some lower ones. What would be nice driveable timings for a fast road touring setup with the krp4 pipe? With 2mm packer it would be 126/188.
That sounds much better, I think. I do have to admit that I stopped using the old style pipes some years ago though. Modern pipes use fairly wild port timining of 190° and over to get the port time area required for high power output, but are really quite long to bring the revs down to an acceptable level.
This for example is an engine with 125-188 with a Devtour pipe (red), one of my pipes for touring (blue) and another one for "racing" (green).
It's a 60mm stroke crank, no welding, 30mm Koso Carb (later to be replaced by a Mikuni because it forever kept flooding). Basically a standard cylinder with a ported exhaust port and timing sorted by means of a base gasket. Only pipes where changed, rest remained untouched.
Sorry if this looks offtopic, it's just meant to illustrate that port timing is second on the list, a long way behind the pipe, when it comes to determining the character of an engine.

Is that 26-30hp for a nearly standard cylinder TS230?
I know Pipedesign, but I never tried one of his pipes, nor have I had one in my hands. I build my own pipes (smallframe mainly with a few one-offs for production racers, but I have done some largeframe and Lambretta ones too), so using my own stuff is a question of pride to me. From what I know of people using his pipes (they all share the same principal, I'd say) I think they work well though. That said you need to be aware that the pipe needs the input from the engine, so if your engine is a typicall English road tune with exhaust port timing low in the 180ies and some 28° of blowdown you are unlikely to benefit from the pipe. If you do what the pipe needs you do get the reward though. Pretty much the same with my pipes, or with most of the other German pipes, I'd say. They're all designed to work within a certain range of port times, not like the traditional English stuff with lang paralell section downpipes which had to work on anything from a standard cast iron barrell to a balls out lump of ally welding loosely based on a TS kit.

Must say it is nice to be able to ask a lammy question on here lol. I have a taffspeed tuned ts1 barrel I scored from a mate over in the uk for 50 quid a couple of years ago. I also scored a pipe from my mate pat (he owns saigon scooter centre) when he came over to oz for the Lambretta 60th anniversary run. Ive slowly aquired bits for the build over the years. (af flywheel, the ts1 and pipe, a bunch of gearboxes from a bloke selling all of his lammy stuff which included a couple of li150 boxes and I also have a tv175 box and a few gp200 boxes) I am also pretty good mates with the main lammy dealer in Delhi so i can get stuff from him as well when needed.
One thing I do need to get this thing off the ground is to have the barrel renikasilled, do you guys know which would be the best place to have this done?
I actually have four totally rebuilt gp200s sitting in a warehouse in Delhi waiting for me to get them shipped out to me, the guy who built them is AF rayspeeds main bloke in India so luckily his stuff is abit above the standard of some of the lammies that have been making their way out of India, these ones were built to order for someone that decided to back out of the deal after they were done so I am getting them for a song. Basically I am just gonna get them shipped to me here in OZ one at a time and I will just sell them as they come and either keep the last one or keep whichever one fails to sell.
Anyways my point out of all this is to let you know that if there is any stuff you need for your build that comes from India, let me know and I can get my mate to send it to you for wholesale. Unfortunately SIL have stopped making 200 cases etc so they have pretty much dried up, but any other stuff isnt a problem including some rather nice remade PAV trailers that he has sitting there. At the moment I am selling a bunch of 200cc vespa cases that he has had sitting there in his warehouse for a while, but pretty much anything else is also available including a bunch of LML pkxl clones that have also been sitting there for a while. But from memory these werent really that cost effective compared to buying them in Europe although he may have some engines and cases still sitting around.
Unfortunately I think the lml sensation stuff has all been sold on to folks in germany. As for the PL170 gear that went the same way last I heard. I will ask my bloke in delhi tomorrow.
Just to sum this up. Got the engine together and started up today. Ignition went together without any problems. Timings ended up at 125/186. Looks and sounds good.
No need to comment on the "stand" ;D...wasnt ment to be anything more than it is...
