I have a 1983 PK 50S with a battery and electric start. It's a British one (Rather than an import) and my Indicator unit is very erratic... sometime's it's OK, sometimes the indictors just stay on permanently... at the moment they don't come on at all!!
I've changed the flasher unit but this hasn't worked as the ones that dealers supply are different to mine... Theirs are square with 3 terminals. Mine is round with 3 terminals and no matter which way I connect the wires to the new one it doesn't work properly.
Mine is an aluminium cylindrical unit with GUILERA 12V 20W MADE IN SPAIN 217351 - 83 - 2 STAMPED ON IT. Upon opening it up it looks like a mechanical/electromagnetic affair rather than electronic.
Anyone got such a beast going spare in their boxes of bits - It's doing my bloody head in!!
Other than that any help would be appreciated
Cheers
Stilt

hi dave, i wonder if possibly this isnt the fault of the flasher unit but rather a dodgy reg output (not strong enough) or simply a poor earth sapping the current?

hi Tony,
yeah thought of that... cleaned and remade all the earthing points and changed the regulator but still no joy!

You say its a battery model ..... these used different flasher units then the AC, so the square one will not work, they were also fitted to the PKS and the Cosa. I scrapped a Cosa last year i may have the old flasher, but if not i can get you a new one there about £22.

Finally got the indicators working. (At long last)
Ended up with a flasher unit off an old car then changed the internal capacitor to slow the flash rate down (as they were flashing twice as quick as they needed to)
What a game!!
