i already have the alloy basket and a 3 plate clutch but it slips like crazy in every gear, even with new plates so i was looking for a 4 plate conversion, is it just as simple as putting an extra plate in or do you have to modify anything else?

its not just an extra plate, they are thinner and so are the steels, have you tried a stiffer spring ?

You could use a drt top plate.. may give you enough clearance. Using ally plates in steel basket is ok. There may be some new ones on the horizon soon. Tbh cork isnt great. So i would look at changing that to use a different material.

ok, i was thinking about this too, there seems to be a limited amount of possibilties with alloy plates but i think hte ones adspeed has/had are surflex

I ran my racers with steel in ally tho johnny. I used to replace the baskets.. I have realised that really we need a cush system on the big power kits tho. having seen how the racer plates come out after a few races with no damage at all on the edges with the drt system.

last time i had steel plates in an ally basket i ended up with no basket, all the turrets had dissapeared, ive not got a cush on my polini basket do you think thats gonna be a problem with about 16hp

yeah probably be an issue. You end up with the jagged ends as you know. I have seen some people put steel covers on the polini basket. Loads of work and a lot of grief. Did anybody know the basket is a replaceable item? I have a couple of gear kits modified so the basket can be replaced without stripping the motor. I dont know what this other drt thing is like..i think he does a cheaper version?

Maybe carbon plates would be a little bit less strenous on the basket?

I dunno to be honest juan. I'll find out if/when we can get some proper ally plates. Theres a few things on the horizon. So i'll try get a date for production-btw the plates will be race type and not necessarily designed for the polini tho should fit.

Yeah, could be intresting, I was kind of toying with the idea of using them adapted to run on a XL2 multi spring on mine. Don't really know the properties but I thought they might be more forgiving although I don't expect a huge life from the basket.
