Normal cables, i'd use any grease or teflon spray just wack a load in your hand and drag the inner through it. Obviously this requires cable separation cause smallies don't have greasey nipples.
Don't grease nylon lined cables, the nylon will react and expand having the opposite desired effect. Someone told me to use 3-in-one oil on these but i've ignored him just in case ;D

Aha... I have to remove cables and re-install in order to grease them?? (I am probably sounding a bit dim here!)
When I've taken the scoot for a service in the past, it's come back with the gear change all nice and slippy. I assumed they'd done it with the cables in situ? Hmmm.

Another thing you can do, is grease the gear change tube on the headset. Take the light off, disconnect the gear pulley(should be able to remove the pin just outside the headlight, without loosing the cables), take tube off and grase it, put it back, job done. ;D
Or you can spray the tube with wd40, only a temporary solution though.

Maybe they replaced the cables as part of the service, more likely they sprayed a load of graphite/wd 40 down the cable in the headset like max said ;D
