Hi,
I recently rebuilt a v50. It's a 3 gear model and the cruciform is in good condition - as too are the gears.
All back in the frame and connected up, I can only get it into 1st, neutral and 2nd. After that it finds a false neutral and goes no further.
Cables are tentioned and the swivel arm isn't fouling against anything. Cables are on the correct sides too. Next stop is to drop and split the cases in search of a cause.
Before I do, I just wanted to ask more experienced sf mechanics what they think could be the reason for not finding 3rd gear position?
Thanks

the engine is running as your trying to change gear isnt it . as otherwise the cut outs on 3rd gear might not be lined up an it wont select .H

Scrub my previous post!
I threw the bike on its side and disconnected all the cables. Spinning the rear wheel and moving the gear arm by hand, I found I had indeed fitted the cables the wrong way (although I had referred to another forum where it said I had them correct!). It now finds all 3 gears successfully.
Happy days 😁

other forum not a large frame forum by chance was it . as cables are reversed on largeframes , 1st gear cables wheel side . on a smallframe its flywheel side .H
