Nice patina , I see its fitted with a ETS type headset, whats your plans for the engine? . Paul Headset is original, it's late PK S model called "Lusso" in Germany. It's a transition model between PKS s and PKXL. It has ETS style headcover and big speedo with fule gauge, however scaled only to 60km/h. Engine is still original 50cc with SHB 16.14, 4 speed with short 69/14 primary. I will keep it standard for now, just to get through registration process. I have a lot of spares lying around in my garage, but also a lot of Vespas to work on Surely nothing radical is going to happen with engine in this one, probably some mild short stroke tuning with Polini or Pinasco 102 as it will be probably registered in "moped" class. I have other Vespas with more displacement and motorbikes so I no longer have any urge for extreme performance (neither for spending extreme amount of cash on it ).

Very cool, never knew there was a cross over model between the S and XL, will be interested to see the scoot finished. All the best Paul

Consider it finished I'm going to keep it as it is and not planning to change anything. I am even hesitating to wash it

I really like that. I bought a motovespa PK125S in similar condition. I re-built the engine with new seals and bearings and fitted a pro-cup 3 cylinder and BGM banana sport pipe. Today was its first proper outing on my journey to work. after doing a bit of research I think the best way to preserve the patina is to rub a WD40 type product called "Gibbs brand" into it but it isn't sold in the UK. I tried to buy some on-line but they won't ship it because it is highly flammable so will have to look for something else. mine hasn't been washed either as the oily sludge is stopping it rusting!!!

I have a rustoration Lambretta and been using a combo of Ankor Wax and ACF-50 spray which has kept any further deterioration at bay for the last 15 years or so. Might be worth a try for your PK? cheers Paul

I apply it one of two ways - like a bee's Wax which I rub into the rusty area or warm up the tin so the wax thins and then with a brush. If you've every re-waxed a Barbour/Wax Jacket then its not too dissimilar to that. Cheers Paul
