I recently purchased a Vespa 100 engine (incorrectly listed as a 50cc motor on Ebay) - the engine prefix is: V9B1M.
I can only find these listed as Vespa 100 Sport (specifically for the American market) - the UK versions have the prefix: V9B1T (100 / 100 Sport).
Can anyone shed a light on what specific motor this is and could it originate from USA?
Many thanks

chassis are pre-fixed ending with a T , engines always M for motori .its italian for motor would you believe .an confusingly the v100 sport ,mostly usa spec , an the V100s (s stands for sport ) the uk an euro spec share the same chassis n engine prefix . v9b1m for engine an v9b1t for chassis , as there derived from the v90 v9a1t/v9a1m . the v9b1m engines are identical between usa an uk spec with one exception , the usa engines have a neutral light switch ,euro dont . euro v100s chassis are just rebadged v90 chassis . the v100 sport usa is a whole other beast ,with many differences , an first models where actually re-purposed 50 special electric start chassis . with the battery box door on the left hand panel being the most obvious difference .H

well done H. is there anything that you aint got notes on yes mate , where my notes an blackbooks are stashed away for safe keeping ,so safe even i cant get them . when i had to clear my dads house of stuff i brought my notebooks to my house ,they where archived at dads as i use too move a lot with work .4 blackbooks with notes for the 80's/90's an start of the 2000's ,every engine an gearbox project . they where put in "a safe place" in the fireproof metal box they lived in ,never to be seen since ,an thats 7 years ago . not that most of the info in them i'd use again , just be nice to read through again to remind me of the daft stuff ive done in the past .H
