ok so i know where the ally entered the motor, and that was from the little lip that is on the flyside, now i had to relieve this a little for the rod and made it thin in places so when i closed the cases with a sledgehammer it must of broken off and dropped in the cases anyway i know it does fuck all apart from maybe gasket alignment, so i think its wise to hoof it all off, maybe i got lucky this time and didnt stay in the crank housing as gears just chew is up anyway anyone else done away with the whole lip?

Id say that lip is like a stagard sealing face 🤔 I always put the thinnest beed of sealant along there as I close cases.... my head tells me too 😂
Not sure I would be happy building a motor with a chunk missing 🤔 my brain says no 😂

yeah but the drive side housing has been spindled out to 88mm to fit a 54mm full circle crank in there which also takes yr pad out, the polini crank needs more than this as does the falc, these cranks when fitted sometimes break through where the xmas tree is, so losing the lip would probably not be there for bigger stroke cranks, the rod in the crank i used only needed relieving a little at the top which made the lip thin, its broken off anyway, top end is very good and had no leaks before stripdown due to twisted crank causing flywheel magnets to hit stator and made it poorly indeed

I think the lip is there mostly for lining the cases together with the thick stump in the rear part of the cases. IMO you will be just fine even if you remove it completely. Malossi cases for the largeframe do not have it either:

lips there to align the cases on closing them , where ive had to remove it totally in the past for stroked cranks ,or its gone so thin it wont work anymore . ive dowelled the cases on a d-bolt hole to keep alignment .H

i once made an insert that fitted in the after i removed the seal housing
and had it welded the accuracy is not very high presision 0.1mm out would do no harm
i was fitting an et3 bearing to a V range case so had to reduce the bearing hole
sounds like your having a run of gremlins at the moment
