Hi all I have a standard Vespa 100 three speed, I am thinking I could have a Polini 135 kit and a Polini exhaust fitted to get me up hills without dropping down to 2nd gear It will also help to go quicker but it’s the hills that are the problem ( it has drum brakes)so I don’t wish to go to fast what’s your thoughts I could go from 5hp - 11hp?
Also is a head made of aluminium worth the extra cost to a cast iron one
many thanks
ps budget is tight and I wish to keep the three gears if possible

That setup sounds good. I'd also get CDI ignition and 19mm carb with intake if you do not already have them.

The cast iron polini kit with the banana exhaust is just fine and will work well. Leave the 100 primaries in place and you'll be delighted with its performance on hills. All the Polini heads are aluminium, the more expensive option just has better cooling fins, not needed in this application.
What carb do you have right now?

Follow the directions on jetting in the kit and you'll be fine.

I'd take it gently for the first 200 miles. Varying loads and no long full power pulls. Do not use high end two stroke oil (Motul 800 etc.) during running in, because it will slow down the process. Lower shelf mineral oil is good.
