Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum. First time here.
I Bought myself a beat up Vespa pk50xl for my girlfriend. Someone decided it needed matgrey paint and a ace on the engine cover to make it cooler... Last time it was ran was in 2007 when it got its licenseplate. So there is some work to be done. Started by removing the seat and petroltank to clean out the carb. after removing the carb i found out its a 16/16 dellorto that looks a lot newer than the rest of the engine. I asumme its a 'upgrade'. Removed the airduct around the cilinder to look at it or they mounted a 75cc kit of some sorts. Does this look original? And the exhaust is this original?
Cleaned the carb out, was not to dirty anyway. Jet size mounted is a 70 Main. Is this the correct size for a stock cilinder and exhaust with only a 16/16 dellorto and a 16 manifold?
Can somebody confirm that the engine/cilinder is indeed original? in the netherlands where i live the insurance will not cover any cost when you get in a accident if something is not original on the engine.
Sorry for the questions vespa is not my brand, normally i only drive and work on Puch MV50 models.

Take head off, measure bore, 38.4mm then its 50cc, 47mm then its 75cc, 55mm then its 102cc. Look for extra ports in cylinder bore.
Carb should be a 16.10 or maybe 16.12 i think.
Some of the 75cc kits recommend a 16.16 carb upto a 19.19.
The 16.16 was probably the easiest upgrade as u dont have to change the manifold.

I took the head off yesterday to have a look at the bore size. Turned out its a 75cc malossi kit. The inlet manifold is a 2 hole manifold cut up to fit a 3 hole engine.
The malossi has to go. to much cc's for the dutch law. If i put on a original pk50 cilinder, combined with the 16/16. what will the correct jetsize be?

The standard clutch should easily cope with about 10 bhp, They can cope with most budget 130 & 135 kits, Is it possible its just an old engine and the clutch is worn out or that the cable has been adjusted to have too little free play in the cable

No i dont mean clutch. Dutch law. our government does not approve more than 50cc. and insurance wont pay in case of a accident. all cost are for me then.

Yeah It is a lame law. Max speed is 45 km/h and 49,9cc. 6km/h faster and police will taken your license papers.
Is the 50cc DR Any good? Looks like a Nice complete kit

Looks like a Nice complete kit I was running a 75cc DR kit without a problem for, reasonably priced and bullet proof. I get what you mean about our Dutch laws regarding snor and brom fietsen but it hasn't stopped me from installing a 130cc DR kit on a 50 special small frame. Go with the DR kit, zij zijn heel goed kits.

Hello everyone, since my last post everything changed. After soms Investigation there were some problems with the paperwork what means IT count not be registered for road use. The seller was kind enough to trade the Grey one for a allready restored pk50xl no e start on italian papers. Been busy prepairing It for registration. But i have a problem with the electronic system. If i switch on my lights the engine cuts out. Doesn't matter if its on high rpm of running idle. Lights do work for a few seconds. I have to mention that i used the ignitioncoil from the pk50xl with e start. IT has 4 terminals. The old one 3. Colors are the same. Onkyo difference is the new coil has 2 terminals for 'green'. No short circuits found. Anyone got a clue where to look??

Same law as in uk, but looking at our politicians we are pre conditioned to be liars anyway 😂 is canabis legal where you are? I was in sweeden a while back, alcohol strength is limited to something daft like 2% unless you have an exemption license yet petrol station sell hallucinogenic mouth tobacco... strange old world huh?

Please start a new thread. In it list your chassis number and photos of the wiring harness connections in question and the two coils.

Yes it is a foolish law, it is enforced quite 'good'. They chase you with a motorbike and halt you. Escort you to a local testing station where there is a dyno that tells your speed. The cop puts it on the dyno and pulls it through the gears. max speed 45. everything above 51 your paperwork is suspended and the bike has to be returned to 45 km/h... and off course you get a hefty ticket with it. Cannabis is a grey area, by law it is not allowed. but they do not enforce the law for that. we call it a toleration policy. You are allowed to have a set amount in your posession and grow 5 plants on your land. the world is becoming a stranger place by the day.....

Shame they dont turn the same blind eye to engine mods as they do canabis 😂 I doubt in the UK they could ever put a bike on a dyno for evidential reasons because of liability reasons, but then again in france police escort you to a cash point and collect the fine if a road side offence is witnessed- again that would never happen in the uk we dont trust our bizzies with cash OR canabis 😉 Met a guy from some part of Europe in germany once with a show winning 54 beetle.... where he came from customisation of anykind isnt allowed So believe it or not - he does three shows a year THEN removes non standard parts and puts it back to stock... Crazy as a box of frogs this planet lol
