Hi All, I have just been given a 1969 125 super , V5 says Vespa Douglas, (though there is a paper sticker under the seat that says motovespa madrid). the engine number is 762M * 406937* frame number(not very legible) 7C28*40C871*. I'm not sure what model engine this is as it doesn't match up with engine types in haynes manual or parts listed online. it has a delorto SHB 16/16 carb. Starter jet 50, main jet 70, pilot jet 40. the plastic cylinder shroud is marked 125/90
I've had it running but only works on full choke and dies when the throttle is opened, despite ultrasonic clean of carb and jets. I will strip it and replace seals and check bore/piston condition, big end and small end etc. it only has 2 coils on the stator plate, ignition and lighting? direct system with no ignition switch or battery.
I am unsure what are the sensible modifications to make. Barrel/piston? Carb? Exhaust? what are peoples thoughts?

762M is a super 125 engine number pre-fix ,an to be a super chassis the pre-fix would be 762C,is there a chance your misreading it because its faint .also from the factory engine an chassis numbers would match exactly .the piaggio equivalent engine is the primavera ,with all parts except ignition an on occasion the carb an inlet being different .H

Thanks for the reply Henri. Yes, there is a good chance I've misread the chassis number, I'll have another look.
