acrylic urathane is very durable if you can find it, chlorinated rubber is used for doing lane marking inside buildings and for doing the lane markings in swimming pools again expensive.
cheaper is soak in domestos limescale remover for a few hours to remove all the rust then use hammerite etc

Thanks for all the answers regards the stand. I think smooth Hammerite is favourite to keep it simple but effective.
I hope you don't mind some of my seemingly obvious questions. I am a real novice at restoration and am taking it very slowly so as to get it right eventually.
My next question may seem quite obvious to some, so apologies again.
I have decided to get the body just about MOT ready so I can ride it this summer and will go for a full strip down and paint later in the year.
It is a bog standard Spanish 75s and nippy but no top end. I am not confident enough to rebuild the whole motor but would like a little extra from it.
I am looking for piston/barrel, exhaust and carb ideas to achieve this. I am happy to have a go at anything that does not include splitting the case and all that involves.
Any recommendations gratefully received.
Lastly, does the Spanish version differ in any way from the PK80s? And does this affect the parts I would need to order?
Again, told you I was Clueless!!!
Thanks.

I've heard a couple of conflicting reports regarding the Motovespa 75 motors, there's reports of a 47mm bore with a 51mm crank from some and 51mm bore with 47mm stroke from others, maybe they did both but I don't know for sure.
What I can say for sure is that you'll need the 51mm crank to use a bigger topend and also the spigot will need to be large enough to accept the 125+ barrels and if I'm not mistaken they have a smaller spigot. Then you have the question of gearing, it'll be short hence why it's nippy with little top speed and that only exaggerate things.
So in short you're going to either live with it as it is, do a fair bit of work on it or get a suitable donor block.

Thanks again Juan. I have been researching via the net and have come to the same conclusion. I'll leave it as is for now and keep an eye out for a complete motor in the future.
Thanks.

Not a great deal to report. Had a few electrical problems with various lights, brake light and indicators only working sporadically. But cleaning connections etc seems to have worked. So all electrics are now fine. The tick over problem was solved by changing the idle jet from a 42 to a 45. I think the 42 was bunged up or damaged. Ticks over, just, now. The carb need a bit more balancing but it runs ok. Been a bit gutted to find out how problematic it can be to do much to the Spanish 75 engine. Was told also that if I get a replacement 125 I will also need the stator and a wiring loom as the Spanish one is unusual. Not sure how true this is. Going to do a bodge repair on the floor to get it MOT'd and start work on the frame seriously later this year. (Full strip and paint). For now I fancy having a spin for a while as the weather improves. Stand came out quite nice with 5 coats of Hammerite smooth. Sorry can't seem to post pic. How do you do it please? Just a little update on the 75s. As mentioned I hit a few snags in doing anything much with the engine. So I decided to keep it as is and just tidy it up to ride for the summer. New flywheel side seal, engine oil, decoke, cleaned and rebuilt/rejetted carb. All simple stuff really. Nearly there now. The engine is running pretty well, new cables all round and a rub down and rattle can is in progress. Have lots of goodies from Beeds and SIP to enhance the look. A few pics here... postimg.org/image/raffq72oz/postimg.org/image/p79lw9s9v/postimg.org/image/bev70n1ib/Should be sprayed and reassembled in about a week and then cross fingers for the MOT.

It seems luck was on my side, the only 'mislaid' item was the front brake adjuster barrel thing. About £2 from Beeds. As it's a standard 75 I probably won't need two brakes anyway

As mentioned previously, this went from a resto to a tart up. It's now running and looking okish. Got a few more bits to come from the Fatherland (seat, grips etc), and a few final jobs to do. Booked in for MOT next week and it should be away.... Given that I did the whole thing on a tiny budget, funded by selling odds and sods of old scoots from my shed, I'm pretty pleased. Going to look for a bigger motor over the winter, so plenty more still to do in the long run, but a few jaunts around the lanes is next.
