Had my last 126 LC stollen a few years ago. now iv`e got a standard primmie. as iv`e been out of scoots for a few years i do not know what is currently available.
what i`m looking for is info that will help me get started
for my last one i used the following: I used large taper crank fitted with 104mm honda rod with crowded rollers at the small end, a 56mm suzuki ts125 piston watercooled autisa barrel and head, amal 26mm on an nfk manifold. (power jet, chomed bronze slide) gianelli axpansion made from a cone kit. 12volt elecs from a pk stator with modified plastic px flywheel. (good for 80ish)
what is available now or needed, Im hoping to go along the lines of a large taper crank, long rod, standard stroke. a 56-57mm piston going into an original et3 barrel, 26mm amal inside the frame if possible. also considering using a 3phase stator and rotor. I intend to leave the little buttie box on the left hand panel as is for battery space.
please gents any hints tips or recomendations. at this stage my options are pretty much still open.

Hi Steve - welcome to a great forum, plenty of experience and advice.
I havent got a great deal of knowledge and/or experience but you may get some help from others over the next few days. From what you had before i think engine kits have changed quite a bit so it might be worth searching for "falc" "parmakit" "quattrini" to see some up to date gear but thats not to say your Autisa idea is a bad one - i personally like to see some old skool engines!
Good luck.

Hi steve nice to see you getting back into tinkering with smallframes, the choice of kits is allot better than when you built yours im pretty sure whatever you choose you will find a way to make it go faster, look forward to seeing what you do as i have a spare motor you can work your magic on again not sure if you got these pics but there on a facebook page Greg

yes thats the one that got stollen. picture taken just after the flywheel exploded throwing all the magnets through the frame it was after that, that i got the plastic flywheel not sure if was pinasco or pollini. at the time these pics were taken i had cobbled another exhaust tagether, i think that one was a shoehorn special made from a honda 480 crosser.
dont we just love bike robbers.
been looking at other stuff thats come out recently. the parma reed valve kits look nice but i suspect that they use cast iron rings. i cant stand cast iron rings, they limit the maximum width of the exhaust port and make the engine rev out too early so currently trying to find what pistons are commonly used now. old days a kh400 would have done the job but those pistons are now very hard to find and expensive. still hoping to get some more info from riders rather than retailers.
and hello Greg

thanks mate i`ll check it out,
I`m surprised at how much some of the kits have improved. but the prices dont surprise me at all (it is the duty of us punters too keep the dealers earning a nice living).
a lot of the older kits used look like they were made from recycled ashtrays and would have been better suited as weights for deep sea fishing. it seems that now that there is only 10% of the number of scoots on the road we have 100% more choice.

I was suprised that my Falc kit uses a Polini piston, very good piston just he makes so much of his own stuff....

I'm pretty sure you'll find that Vertex makes the pistons for Falc and highend Parmakit at least. Now I may have missed a trick and it's part of the Polini Empire but I can't see it. Why would they've bought in Meteor previously and ASSO currently if that was the case?
It's a lot of work going an old barrel and finding a suitable piston now, certainly could be cheaper, but if you feel the need to go old school then fire on. Just seems a little silly to restrict yourself to 70's and 80's engineering given the progress over the last 10 years or so.

I'm pretty sure you'll find that Vertex makes the pistons for Falc Falc mostly use teflon coated Vertex pistons but the 60mm piston Lauro uses is a Polini albeit He usually dremels away the Polini branding from the piston to disguise the fact

thanks for the offer (pm sent) I am still shocked by the wide range of kits and quality of some of them, and being honets i think they offer a great starting point so after rethinking new tech v old school. lets go high tech.
i plan starting from the bottom end and looking at a full circle crank big taper and high ratio primaries as a starting point. sort a suitable flywheel and stator.
then go looking at some of the kits, and either get a mortgage or sell my sole to old nick.

as far as i know this is the only other pic of this scoot. it shows what can happen if you remove all the fins and a little bit more. it seems that the strength of the flyeheel is in the fins. if you look closely you can just see the power jet in the carb, at the time i made this bellmouth no power jets were available for 26mm amals. another thing that was not available was chomed slides so i made a couple of phozie bronze ones and had them chromed, about 3 months later someone started selling chromed slides for 26mm amals. this carb was later swapped for a 28 dellorto. fortunatly I still have this carb, i gave it to my brother but he had no use for it and gave it back to me, it may come in handy now. also if you look closely at the case/barrel gasket area you can get some idea of how big the transferes were, ok i give in how do i get the photo uploaded ?
