I did like it, but then it's not really a problem for me because I have all the equipment here. Running around and asking people to do this and that, and explaining it, with a good chance they get it wrong is the pain in the ass aspect of it.
And I keep forgetting about the parmakit manifold. That's probably not a bad idea at all.

I use one of the metal clips from the seatcover as a mini-screwdriver. Works alright for setting idle and mixture. I think having the carb inside is quite nice because it's a bit more subtle, or whatever you call it. I also think MRB only do one up to 30mm or so, but this one can be modified quite easily to accept a 33mm carb. It's the same ring-welding routine as with the Polini. There also is this one herePrice is a bit stiff maybe.

I'm pretty busy next week, but there is a chance I'll find a bit of time the week after that. I have pretty much all components you intend to use here (53mm DRT crank, Polini Evo), and it probably is just about time I built a new motor for my PK. I'll try to take a few pictures to illustrate things, maybe that'll help you with your project.

that falc manifold says its for a 3 stud, so sip has come up trumps again for description, as for price you may need to come home a couple of hours early from the rally lol

im the same, i just confuse her with the exchange rate, then talk about how i need to build it and go into one about the benefits of a nice hand built pipe, how port times make the motor perform and then port the cases in the kitchen, sweet as a nut

You're not supposed to tell them, and if you tell them you need to point out a postive aspekt. Like when I bought that lathe only because it came with all the tools needed to turn our wedding rings. I swear to god she was moved to tears when I manouvred it into the workshop with 4 mates, all the trouble because I wanted our wedding rings to be a bit special.

Guys, need some help. Having problems trying to find DRT rotary valve full circle crank 53mm stroke, 105mm conrod rotary valve version. Been told that they are only available for reed valves??? Can anyone advise where I can purchase? Tried SIP & Scooter Centre.

Thanks jeanshorts for the link, however I was looking for a full circle crank? Maybe the full circle is only available for the reed valve. Not quite sure why it needs to be full circle either.

You need to make up your mind. It either is rotary, or full circle, not both.

Hi Amazombi sorry I didn't understand the difference with regards to the full circle.
I plan to run with the rotary valve, therefore I'm assuming with what you are telling me you don't have/need a full circle with the rotary valve (sorry for my ignorance. Every days a school day :-) ) Many thanks D

The rotary crank has a cutout section which opens and closes the inlet. Have you stripped the engine? If so put the crank back into the larger halve of the crankcase and rotate it slowly. With the inlet manifold removed you'll see when the inlet is open, and when it's close. Maybe it sounds like a waste of time, but a thorough understanding of what happens in you engine helps to understand how it works and how it can be modified to make more power. People are let to believe that it all is plain sailing because it's a twostroke engine, one from a Vespa on top of that. I'm not sure this actually is the case.
