...got an ss180 been stood for 40 years...trying to get it running for MOT & registration...got a very weak spark and won't run....fitted NOS coil, new points condenser...got a cracking spark from red wire from stater when you kick it over and put to earth...disconnected all other wire from junction box ignition, lights etc....tried another 6v coil that works...does it need a live battery to run?...its a battery model...tried a 6v battery charger connected to it ...no better...... any ideas? before I fork out for the enevitable vespatronic...? cheers.

I'll see if I can get ahold of a GS 160 owner I know, I'm fairly sure he told me in the past the battery needs to give a good charge.

...given up on the 50 year old electrics as I got a good deal on a trade for a vespatronic....now question is how do you time it up ? I have a good understanding of setting these things up but there are no notes in the poor instructions. Whats the advised static timing on this set up...? standard ss180 thanks

Hello Everyone I purchased the scooter talked about in this post from SS152. The scooter has now been fully restored, here are a couple of pictures taken on one of my rides. I'm hopping SS152 will contact me as I would like to share the pictorial history of the scooters restoration with him Many Thanks Raven

That's beautiful, I'm really jealous. My favourite largeframe model by a considerable margin other than the GS150 VS1.

That is by far my most favourite Vespa of all time. Love it.
(I would not recommend doing the causeway at St. Michael's mount on it though...)
