Anyone have any hints or tips for getting rid of the carbon build up on the piston

you shouldn't have much carbon unless it's running really rich or you use shit 2-stroke oil,get rid of it and it'll be back in 500 miles.a pointless exercise imho.

scrape it off, clean it up, set it up, use good oil.. end of ;D

I stick the head and piston in some brush cleaner for a couple of hours, then use a plastic scraper. Sometimes 360-ish wet and dry using paraffin as a lubricant. I *think* i remember it saying in sticky's to leave the coke above the top ring but don't quote me on that.

It's not a working engine, the top ends in bits in the shed. Just having a bit of a tidy and thought I give it a clean up. I don't know what it is but I can't bear to throw anything away anymore. Includes items that I know are no good or broke, bits thats been replaced or ones I've brought thinking thats a good idea at the time. Used a plastic scaper to get most of the crud off, just wondered if anything else could be used to get the last bit off.
