for smaller holes and bits I have been using epoxy to stop the filler going right through the frame should it be ok? I don't have access to welding

guess you could also chemical weld a piece of metal from a biscuit tin behind a screw hole that needs filling and then skim over it, not that i would do anything like that

JB Weld - amazing stuff - I glued a bottom bracket for the cranks into a moutainbike frame (threads had been ripped out) and 1 year later its still going strong. Very fileable too!

my latest epoxy putty bodge; peice of alloy casting on with thread in broken off from around flywheel. bit of oil on the thread of a bolt, squish epoxy putty onto the bust bit, push bolt into putty, squeeze it around the bolt, turn the bolt abit to make sure its not adhered to putty, let it go off, unscrew bolt.... = broken casting repaired including thread don't reckon it'll last long though... in future i'll put a nut inside the putty
