Putting together a v90 from a box. Transmission/gear stack order of installation is: circlip, shoulder washer, gears 1-2-3, shoulder washer, circlip?
When I put the top (by 3rd gear) shoulder washer and circlip on, there is no play in the gears, i.e., they won't freely turn at all. Scooterhelp says there should be .15-.40mm play. I have none. Scooterhelp shows a 4 speed, whereas I have a 3 speed; is there supposed to be the top shoulder washer in the 3 speed? (I would think so, but something's off.) Seems like without the top washer I would have too much play, but with it there's definitely not enough. I supposedly have the stock shoulder washers (new washers and circlips).
Anything I'm missing, could be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance, it's appreciated.

I can't remember off the top off my head but I'll be stripping a 90 motor later in the week if you're not in too much of a hurry.

Thanks, I can wait. It's been in a box long enough now...

rnyc, theres definately supposed to be a shim/shoulderwasher at each end of the loose gears. do have some calipers to hand to measure them?? it could be that you just got sent oversize ones instead? o
