i'm abit bored... random question... what voltage are the green ingition wires leaving the stator?? i thought they were supposed to be 12v, but they do give a fair whack comparable to a ht lead?? and it takes about 50v to get through your skin.. is this right or is my scoot abit funky?

that greenwire is a fucker, although ive never measured the output of it there may be a capacitor in the pickup which will not do you any good, 40v is considered safe, in theory a cdi ignition could kill you but it doesnt have much current so you wood be unlucky

I think i measured 100V+ at idle, and climbing with the revs...

It is said to have up to 400V on a very low current luckily. I managed to touch it whilst riding the scoot - nearly shook me off the scooter for those who wonder, I had a MD-recorder installed to record the ignition signal for GSF-Dyno recording (explained elsewhere on this forum)

500 milliamps is enough to kill you and a cdi will give out more than that

people have been killed by testing 9v batterys with there tongue , it all depends on how your body copes with electrisity.

it all depends on where the shock runs, if your punny and frail and get 50v and enough current arm to arm (via your heart) it could be enough to give you a heart attack... I used to work on the LV and HV powerlines clearing trees, I've had belts from the 240v, 11kv and 33kv, thankfully with large bits of trees acting as resistors when i worked in oz we used to have cherry pickers rated to 5000v which meant we could touch the LV lines and be isolated, i'd have my arms in between them everyday pulling out bits of trees, i got a complacent and had afew wake up calls when i came back to work in the uk with our cheap shit kit i knew a guy who had a massive scar on his shoulder and another on his calf, a crane boom had touch the 11kv and he was the guy trying to catch the hook, the leccy arc'd to his shoulder down through his body and out of calf onto a wheel barrow!!! cooked all the meat inbetween, very nearly died!! i've also seen tree smoke and burst in flames when i've........ accidentally lain them across the lines....... fun and games..... not sure i believe the nine volt battery story..... maybe if you where a 100 yr old midget with a heart condition....
