used to be as easy as to register a small frame lower engine capacity no so nowadays ive just went thru process, u will need a letter from a garage stating engine num and capacity and that they have fitted it no so bad if u have an old pk engine lying about bodge something up send off other wise u need to go thru dvla inspections etc to get cleared so keep in good terms with person you buy from try get it all in their name its just a paperwork exercise that way

hi i was going from a 200 to a 125 in a px, doesnt really matter if its up or down capacity, i know the person i got it off so what we did was get a headed letter from a garage mate stating that they fitted engine number xxxxx of a 123cc capacity into scooter reg xxxxx, frame number xxxxxx, they didnt fit the engine it was already in it but for the dvla we said they fitted it, i registered the scooter in my name changed the section re engine size, they wrote back stating that if the engine was changed prior to me getting the scooter all they needed was a letter from a garage re above but if i had did it myself it needed to to go to a vosa center get it examined so a letter was defo the easier option ive prob still got the letter from them if u need any more info
