can anybody explain the differences between the two. the oily one is mine, the other off a five stud hub..they look remarkably the same to me.

The clean one is fucked.
I've swopped hubs without changing the back plate before now with no problems. That was a V90 to small hub PK front though.
Never tried doing it to a rear hub but I'll need to compare backplates.

to be fair the damaged one is coming free with a hub so i was considering getting it repaired if i really needed to. i will let you know how it fits when i get it

bought a cheap 5 stud hub off ebay. the inside diameter is certainly bigger than the four stud one. Is it possible the brake shoes are bigger on the five stud one to take up the gap..
