I *think* i read somewhere that rotary induction requires less 2-stroke oil cause the fuel goes directly to the big end bearing compared to a piston ported barrel. Am I making that up?

i read about this on a thread somewhere but cant remember where either here on sbw or the lcgb forum, cant remember whatwas said tho but im sure the fuel air oil mixture still has to go round the crank case as its sucked in when the piston goes up goes round the crank then up the tranfers, or i could be talking shite

Isn't that why a GS uses more oil than a PX?

I'm pretty sure it's just piston ported motor like GS's and Lammy's that need more mixture.

Sorry - didn't read the title. It didn't mention reed in the message.

i use 3% in everything.. reed, rotary and race. Oils and components are better these days than in the days of ye ol GS. I dont know many lambretta owners who use 4% in their motors.

i use 2% and less in anything, using decent fully synthetic oil. Forget about the rubbish with higher oil content, 'cause as stated above the mixture is not bothered about the piston porting and goes still everywhere in the crankcase.
BTW: higher oil content leans your excisting mixture....
