Ok, first let me say that I generally don't have any idea what scooters sell for outside my own country.. But, it seems to me that some people are just annoyed that people aren't giving away their scooters anymore and great deals are hard to find?
A good paint job will set you back at least £600/€700 where I live so that kind of puts things into perspective.. If you did a full restoration on a v50 here you would be hard-pressed to make money on it, and if you did, your wage would be very shitty.. That 50 special doesn't seem expensive to me tbh.. (the €1500 one that is.. €4500 for a tatty 50 special is a bit optimistic...)
I don't know why it is generally accepted that when restoring a vintage vehicle you should be lucky if you break even, and that's excluding the countless hours you put into the project.
/end of rant
