Question for those that have installed a PK-ETS engine into an earlier smallie chassis.
I've not got that far yet...but I'm looking at the gear selector wheel at the bottom of the engine. It's clearly larger than the primmy one and therefor offering a different mechanical advantage. Now, the handlebar end is not changing - still using the primmy type.
I'm worried I won't be able to twist the handlebar shifter enough now. Are my assumptions true? Is it just a simple switch of the shifter wheel on the engine?
PK's were never sent to Canada so this is all very new to us here.

- if the answer is anywhere its here! I sure hope so mate. We all know how much fun it is to sort out gear cables on a smallie. You'd rather just do it once.

You wont have any problems, you'll be able to twist the primmy handlebar enough. If any, probably the gear numbers wont match exactly the dot but I''m sure you'll be able to live with it.

Okay, that's good...but when in 4th gear wil the clutch lever be beyond pointing at the ground? Not good for the carpal tunnel syndrom.

It won't be as bad... and to be honest... my ETS is a bit like that. ...actually on a second thought.... it will be really bad. It will be pointing almost backwards. Tell you what, I'll do a favor, I will free you from that engine without charging you for the work ;D

So it turned out it isn't as easy as changing the wheel at the bottom of the engine. The alignment of the pin hole on the shaft is off by about 170 degrees. The entire assembly (inside bits an all) need changing to do the conversion . I don't quite feel like stripping the engine again thank you very much. I'll visit this shifting issue should it be a problem later on down the road.
Fucking hell.... half a day wasted in the garage today.
