I race at santa pod with striaghtliners and wattisham/woodbridge and honnington with TMS Have you got a URL for the dates for these events? I'm close to Woodbridge and Wattisham, and I've been a couple of times, but I've also missed a lot events as well. For those that haven't been to a sprint event, I found it a really good atmosphere with friendly competitors who are happy to talk about their machinery. The best thing is that spectating is often free!

i think that the dynos over there may not be generally what we use over here..also they read in ps. Read scootering's dyno shoot out mate.. that gives us all an idea.

There is some difference between a metric horsepower and a UK/USA horsepower. That can explain why Germans have slightly higher power on their dynos. Metric--- UK/USA 1w = 1,35962 --- 1,34102 1 hp = 0,986320 1,01387 = 1 hp And now I will shut up.

the dynos vary in the uk massively too. from one dealer to another. My race grp4 had 22.44 bhp on jb's at rear wheel but according to the scootering test it will have 28.7 bhp on readspeed's calculated value. They all vary mate.

nice ports, but, If you are building a dedicated sprinter, why didn't you add more metal to the gasket face while having the cases welded so you can open the transfers to their full size?
That's presuming that the cast lump in the transfers are the same as the normal m1L.

also when you look at the gasket face on the barrel, see the way the ducts for the rear transfers arn't an even shape, if you stick your finger up there you can feel that bit prutrudes into the duct quite a bit, like a tab of alloy, i think they do it to make welding optional?? don't know.. anyway it makes a rapid change in cross section for the duct area, i opened that up on my barrel to make it all nice and smooth on the way through ;D p.s. just realised thats basically what unreliable said... only he's more succinct

yeah i'd flow the barrel too... i think they done it to avoid welding up.

tony, do you have any tips for gasketing?? i do my best to match paper gaskets and/or minimise the use of silicony' gasket stuff, but i can't help but think once the barrel and casings are together, theres either a bit of paper, or/and, a beed of gasket compound sticking into my nice transfer ports, o

on my race stuff i dont use gaskets mate, though some people do. If all surfaces are machined then just a fine smear of permatex is all i use..lower the barrel , lift up and make sure its as good as poss.
If you want to use gaskets then you should compress em for a while and check as they do give and maybe spread a little.
To make em use a razor blade on a flat surface.

cheers, tony, i've been using a minimum of gasket compound and at the moment i need a paper/fiber ontop of my packer to make up the hieght, i think i'll make another packer at some point and do away with the gasket, o

Hey Terry, I see you managed to get enough sunshine to spray your frame. When we spoke on the phone last week you said that you couldn't wait to do it and now is done. Getting there eh. ;D

*M1R BUILD UPDATE*
I finally have some spare time on my hands so I decide to finish of my m1-r build After having to machine the inside of the castings to fit the 87/87 Zadra Welded Crank I shimmed up the Short 4th gearbox fitted super clutch and after a few more jobs Put the casings together. Time for the top end and it fitted together well with the only thing being that I have to cut some casting down to allow special exhaust to fit I then fitted the vespatronic and also the head nuts checking the squish is in tolerance, the timing will be set later once I have the engine running
What are the main differences between the L and R well there is a higher compression head Matched inlet and exhaust ports for special exhaust and 32 koso carb also the inlet boost port has been widened and the exhaust port has be widened and reshaped to match the bigger bore exhaust this allows the kit to rev higher
Should be fitting engine to frame in the next week or so
