Hi John, welcome. It looks like you've got a wee belter there so I'd avoid messing with the cosmetics, preservation is the new restorstion. As for tuning? What do you want and are willing to pay really?

well i first need to register her, i got an italian log book, but nothing else so how do i go about registering it from that, into the dvla? or is it owners clubs and dating certificates?
as for restoration or preservation, im not going to do to much in way of cosmetics, it could do with new front mudgaurd as it has a bit of a dent in the front, and there is a scratch on the side door, so i would just paint them and leve rest as its in prety good nic,no rust under mats etc
as for tuning, its got a polini 80 kit on it i beleve, there was the chance of a used dr 102 for £50 from him,but you mentioned i need a gear kit? what speed should i exspect out of the 80 kit? i dont intend to do mega distances with it, thats what the chops for, probably just potter about town, go get my shopping etc!! ;D

£50 sounds a bit pricey for a used dr 102 kit - beedspeed are selling a dr 110 kit for £60, theres also a 102 kit (new) on ebay - see ebay thread for link.

Guy will manage to put you in touch with someone for a letter of dating authentication. A Polini 75 or 85,or any other maker too, should give you somewhere around the mid 40's depending on what else is done to it.If it's still breathing through a 16/10 it'll be totally strangulated, they are a ridiculous joke. And £50 for a used DR102?That's really, really taking the piss considering they aren't much more than that new.And yes,you should upgear with anything above a 75 really.

Should have said a 75cc.£100 to go fast?No chance.
Get a 16/16 carb and manifold,a Sito,Leo Vince or Polini Banana to let it breath a bit better and that's about your lot unless you spend real money. And check the transfers are matched.

so what if i was to fit a bigger kit, for example that over priced dr kit, fit the carb and pipe, sort of speed should i be exspecting?
you have a spare carb in the tardas i mean loft of yours? or anyother odds and sods?

I don't have anything that isn't earmarked. Fitting the bigger kit will give you hardly anything above the 75/85 as you're limited by the incredibley low gearing.Don't be tempted to slap a bigger kit on with the standard gearing, you'll only blow it up. And I talk from bitter experiance on that one. ;D *Edit-I've just remembered I gave Kev from the Turkey's a Shaft PK pipe to try on his scoot,I can't remember if it was for a 50 or a 125,if it's for a 50 it's no use to him.PM me his number and I'll have a talk with him to get it to you.£20 and it's yours if you want it.Will need slight modifications to fit though. *

TBH a 16/16 is pretty rare and if you do find one it's likely to be buggered, have the wrong manifold or some twat will try to pull a fast one with a 16/10 or some crap.I'd suggest buying a new one but I've just looked on SIP and although they have the carbs they don't have the manifolds.
So try advertising for one or look for a Dell'Orto SHBC 19/19 and manifold which'll give you more scope for further tuning down the road.
I've got both but neither is for sale. ;D

The VIN plate (if it has one) should give you quite a few of the details you need John.Another point being you'll need to change that rear light as it's a single bulb item as Italian market peds didn't require a brake light.

what will i get a brake from then with a light switch? pk or something?? ? how can i do it? i can just fit another light bulb holder in the current holder, where should vin plate be? by the petrol tap? if not there where will i find the engine and frame numbers?

Post by Juan on Jan 17, 2007 18:14:04 GMT
PK will have the wrong light switch, you'll need one off a 50 Special,V90/100 or Primmy. You could maybe adapt the light unit with another bulb or LEDs but I don't know.
You'll need to look it over for the VIN plate as I'm not sure if Italian spec peds even had them fitted.
The frame and engine numbers should be on your logbook.

Hi, whats the thingy behind with the red canister below it (revious page) ossibe engine tuning: Get yourself a 19/19 Dello SHB with a fitting manifold. Ensure you have the crank with needle bearing in the small end of the conrod. Get yourself a 3.00 (18/?) primary drive with new clutch plates (3 plate preferably) and the rectangular shaped polini spring. Remove the Polini and check it for wear, replace worn parts. fit new main bearings, gaskets and shaft seals. port everything from carb up to exhaust port. you will/might get a 55mph out of it. And reliable as well! If you're lucky you might get that for 150
