Haven’t seen a vespa custom gearbox calculator going around anywhere there’s a simple, but useful one on www.scooterhelp.com, if you’re using popular boxes, but when you start mixing with ZIRRI or DRT etc it can get a little tricky with the math’s and what-not. So I thought id come up with a simple to use program that calculates custom gearbox by inputting each cog one by one and the ability to get accurate speeds by entering yours wheel circumference, rather than just selecting either 3.00 or 3.50 because there’s a lot of variants with tire depths.. First of all you need to open/run ashgearcalc.exe, it will load a console up in which you’ll enter your data into. UPDATED: PLEASE RE-DOWNLOADDownload here:- geocities.com/ukash86/ashgearcalc.zip

Thats very clever..... i'm gonna spend the next month counting teeth now. which combination will get me 100mph out of a 50 spesh.
Well done.

Think you'd need to incorporate a hill steepness calculator into that!
Zirri short 4th with 2.54 primaries and a 1 in 3 hill ;D

so with them ratios i'll get 135MPH at 12,000 revs...... yea hay.....
well done very useful, thanks for that
just one thought it is MPH or KPH as the wheel ratio is in cm not inches

Hi Ash
just a few more things that may improve it could you do something to give the final drive ratio it gives the primery ratio but not the final drive ratio. which is the primery X the gear ratio.
Or am i wrong

yes mate, if youve downloaded the lastest one, by using the link at the top, then it tells you at the start just working on making it save the output to a file so you can compare different results UPDATED NOW SAVES GEARING OUTPUT TO FILE

not sure i haven't tryed to save anything yet, just inputing gearboxes i know to see if it comes up with what i would expect....
is there a way of going back into what you have already put in and changing it or is it a case of haveing to re input the whole lot, i'm just thinking out loud....... its not a major problem......
