hey, im considering buying a vespa, dont have on eyet but i wanted to know all potential costs before i jump in... i already own a bernardo leather jacket like this www.twenga.com/price-bernardo-leather-jacket.html (first one) but is that going to offer me enough protection on a bike? i know that on a vespa you dont go anywhere near the speeds of a bike so i dont need full leathers but would i be better off to purchase something more specialised? like this... www.bikeleathers.org.uk/category/motorcycle-jackets/ and if so what brand do i go for?! i dont mind forking out on a jacket, like i said i just want to know what sort of costs im getting myself into, dont want any nasty surprises...! thanks in advance

I'd expect that first one would offer slightly more protection than Toilet paper but not much beyond that.
As with helmets I'd buy nothing on-line, get yourself down to your local motorbike shop etc. and check out the quality / fit and then see if you can make a saving via the internet.

thanks juan, i was gonna do that anyway before i buy, so do i take it that even on a vespa it is worth getting a good leather jacket? a proper biking one? no harm in protecting yourself is there...

What the difference with crashing a smallie at 60mph or crashing a bike at 60mph?? You look loads cooler on the smallie before the crash.. ;D ;D Get yourself decent gear, wrong place to save imo.
