Okay am I correct in thinking that regardless of what engine I have, I need the inlet manifold to suit the frame?
And to stick the carb out the side I just turn the manifold 180 degrees (on a 2 stud case)?
How do you do it on a 3 stud case?
AND if I have a 50cc engine do I need to open out the inlet to put a bigger carb on or are they all the same?

Okay am I correct in thinking that regardless of what engine I have, I need the inlet manifold to suit the frame? Yes yes, but you shuld shorten it. this is a px/t5 reedblock on my ets cases, just had to tap one new hole. they are all the same.

How do I shorten it? Just to confirm, if I'm putting a 24/25 carb on I don't need to enlarge the inlet? Cheers jim

Okay am I correct in thinking that regardless of what engine I have, I need the inlet manifold to suit the frame? Yes surely the inlet manifold depends on what engine (2 or 3 stud) and what carb you have, not the frame.

Agreed Hank, but I think the cut-out for the manifold to pass through in the frame differs from V series etc to PK.
Also there are 2 stud PK engines as well as 3 stud.

Anyone know if this:
Art.-No.: 21501600
is plug or rubber connection?
Also is 1 better than the other? I've got a rubber connection on my primmy and had no bother with it up to now (touch wood)

i would say plug.
i wouldnt worry about the frame side - you just widen the carb hole if you need more clearance, its an easy job with Mr Dremel ;D

why so?
C'mon Hank, show your working out!
Oh, just realised are you saying that's a plug manifold, or plug is better?
(Anyway I want to stick the carb out of the side!!!!!)

no i meant that looks like its a plug manifold i wasn't saying that plug is better, dont know the answer to that one.
they look pretty cool sticking out the panel, good for adjustments, but just dont leave it in a place near pikeys or they'll have it off or fuck about with the screws ;D

Yeah I like the look, didn't wanna do it on the prim, but I have NO qualms whatsoever about butchering a pk ;D ;D ;D
I'm thinking plug won't have rubber splitting problems but may be more subject to vibrations.
Still want to know what sort of shortening modifications are required

dont think you can just hackshaw it ;D you'd have to have a piece taken out and rewelded, thats a job for someone who knows what they are doing..................

Still want to know what sort of shortening modifications are required Cut and reweld. if you dont it will look like this; i'm guessing you want the carb closer to the engine.

Yeah that's exactly what I want. What did you use for that Tony? Which manifold & rubber or plug?
Would I be able to turn that 180 degrees for when I register it?
Anyone got a template for where to cut a pk to do that?
Cheers
jim

it was a mbd stub manifold. He made em for 2 and 3 stud types. I don't know if he still does them. They are cast in ally. I then weld/machine them to fit whatever carb (rubber)i used..that one on there was a 34. Try them, try taffs, try chislespeed.
