nice one Juan. I'll start by reposting the pic of my old Saab.
its a 1961 96, and it was all standard except for the 2" exhaust i fitted. Sadly i had to sell it after only one year as i was a skint student, dint have a garage and lived in the middle of the city...
Aye the roof might get done yet, looks a bit rare in white. Still have to camper out the interior and put a headliner in. They do look sweet lowered but I don`t think they look right with a pop-top as well.
I'm with you! They are lovely cars, mind I'm bias! My Dad had one in the garage for many years and I used to sit in it and beg him to let me do it up. It was a Californian import Series II, Carnival Red, full engine rebuid (we bought the engine for £20 off some farmer in Skelmersdale). He spent years buying all the bits, but never did it. Sadly it got sold when my parents split. If you ever seen 'TSY353' it should be mine. Maybe I'll get it back one day!
probably put this in the wrong place but here goes anyway. does any one remember marshall cavendish magfrom the 70,sand early 80,s called on the road? they also did one called on your bike.these built into a complete how to encyclopedeia of all things cars( or bikes ) well i got both complete 8 volume sets in binders with indexes in great nick also a few old manuals, austins, minis, vws, ect. if anyone is interested pm me.cash or scooter parts or w.h.y
Topic for discussion, what makes a classic car a classic car? Does it become classic after say 25 years, or are some classics from day 1? Do they have to be rare to be a classic, if so this would probably eliminate the likes of minis, Beetles and the like as they are still fairly plentiful.
I think that the Manta coupes were classic (but not the hatch) but does the later Calibra fall into that category yet?
Perhaps a poll could be strted to determine what we all think marks a car out as a classic.
We don't own this planet, we are only borrowing it from our children. How would you like to give it back to them?
calibra a classic? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D come on now; its a cavillier in a shell suit and ugly to boot..your gonna tell me youve got one now arnt you? classic cars have to have somthing attractive about them,i mean somthings are just soo ugly you cant take your eyes of em and in a wierd way thats kinda my bag. example : i was wathin top gear the other night ..the one about eastern block cars now whoever designed those things needs all there pencils and paper taken away but i still find myself wantin some of them ???how ever its a whole genre of car design that no one else seems to give a shit about.
p.s well done on all the cool rides on here, love all v-dubs and that saab is the bollocks.
One of my weapons of money destruction. Though not sure if this one can be regarded a classic car yet. Anyway - I noticed it´s got a special reputation in the UK as to be a gay hairdresser´s favourite transport. So I guess that already makes it worth showing a pic:
Needs a bit of a makeover regarding the paintwork due to me residing in a bigger city for 10 years without a garage and people there tending to use their ears as park distance control only which obviously didn´t work out that well for my bumpers.
