Hi All,
Managed to get the bearings and seals etc done, and had to rub down the piston as it had definatly nipped up... Still rattles like crazy though so now I'm in 2 minds as to what to do!!! ( I need to take the barrel off again as it is blowing from around here... (where does the base gasket??)
So, Do i Go for standard polini130 (already had casings matched for this and PM do them for £75)
Or the Polini with GS piston? (I believe this would just fit without the extra casing work)
Or Quatrini M1 (like that fact this isn't reedvalve!! but what problems may I face in fitting this??)
Or Parmakit, Would only go for the rotary induction one so is it worth the extra?
Or the Worb 5 kit (would need to get cases welded up in several places I believe!! (where and how much does this cost?)
Plenty for discussion here I think!!
Cheers Shane

Really... Never realised there were other people who liked real scooters in the area.. Don't really see many of them around which is one of the reasons i went for one!!
where abouts are you like? I live in Acomb..
I thought that about the M1/parma but getting married in may and am hoping to have some money floating after that so was pondering on them M1 more than anything, but am concerned that they are new and nobody will have tested them to destruction yet... The polini is the dogs in my opinion and goes really well but after the slight seize I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of nicasil lining, and the thought of 25HP gets me very excited........
What kind of running in time does the polini need??

married and spare money - those two dont go together, hasnt anyone told you that yet? look on www.dlscooterworkshop.co.uk he's selling M1 kits and is running several scooters with them. he sometimes posts on yahoo small frames ( the forum without breasts) He'll tell you about running in/reliability, etc. i'm only on my first engine rebuild and upgrade so not sure about the running in bit - i'm sure juan or someone else will give you the lowdown on this. I'm from acomb but now living in rawcliffe......any experience in getting out stuck solid rear axles...? though i've been told that my little gas blowlamp from wickes is like pissing into the wind and I really need something like a brazing torch/gas bottle to get some real heat on the bearing, then the axle will come out. did you knock out your rear axle bearing or heat the casing and push it out or both?

I better post now before the footy starts or I'll be blethering shite(no change there then ;D).
My advice on this would be the have your old Polini rebored and get a suitable sized GS piston if you're happy with the Polini's performance.
Really it depends on what you want.Curare's really the expert here but from what I understand he rates the Quattrini hugely on a road bike but they are pricey. The Worb5 will move all your power further up the range more like a Malossi 136 so it's probably not the wisest choice for a tourer/general road bike and I'm led to believe that the Parmakit is probably a bit extreme for general tooling about too.
Like I said,it comes down to what you want.
BTW,Hank have you got the panels yet?

(got a note thro door from postman today, prob those panels, juan, i'll collect 2morrow) I wont suggest the ultra reliable DR............. ;D shane, is this you from york insets's site?

Ok guys,
I think that I will go for the GS piston and hadn't thought of the rebore but may aswell go that route as it is probably the cheapest too..
problem is though all the leccy packed up on me yesterday so that new loom I was hoping not to have to mess about with is going to have to go in sooner than thought!!! My stator is a modified one so not sure what its off, but is it possible to get a 6v one rewired by beedspeed to be a 12v one??? (think I will be giving them a call this morning anyway as not having it on the road is starting to get to me!!)
And hank, yes that is me and my beloved...

It's in the cupboard... Sprung a leak on the way back from brid last year and never noticed till we stopped for a cig on garaby hill... Trousers were soaked in BP & Castrols finest by the time I got home!!!! Was gonna get it welded up and maybe chromed but kind of like it without.. May go for an inline spare wheel though I didn't either but AF do I believe, for about £20.. and its only up the road Still not got through to Beedspeed, been engaged all morning..

no, but that'll heat up then axle as well so i didnt think that would do any good? Sorry hank, forgot the bearing would be going one way and the axle the other. Doh! ;D But that could allow you access to cut the axle, obviously your last port of call.

Sorry Hank, Forgot about the axle bearing...
Cut the inside out and then heated the casing to get the rest out.. I didn't actually do it myself but was there when the guy did it, and I can sypathise with you, He is local and got a good reutation with the lammy boys...... I have a blow torch that plumbers use rothenburger or something its called... out of gas at the mo though otherwise you could have borrowed it, its very similar to the one the guy who did mine used..

was it jason potter?
does the blow torch use a 'gas bottle' as opposed to 'mixed gas' or 'prophane'? how did he cut out the bearing?

It was a guy called Tony Slater.. Its one of these things and the different colour bottles are different gasses... not sure what but the yellow I believe is the hottest! www.tradecounterdirect.com/listproducts.php?cid=100&gclid=CIuEpruemosCFR4FEAodr2_zagnot sure how he did that, but to be honest seeing the chew on getting just a thin bit of metal out with not much to get hold of, you will probably be better trying to get the thing out whole... I will be seeing him tonight anyway, so will ask the question.. If you drop me a mail with your number I could maybe give you a bell if he has any tips..

juan, did you end up getting a GS piston? Nope, that motor is on the back burner at the moment so I haven't bothered to source one yet.Shane, keep us upto date on how you rate the GS piston as I'm loathe to spend the extra cash on what will be a more or less bolt on application unless there's a marked difference.
