Was at Brid over the weekend and couldn't believe my eyes when I walked past this...... Why oh Why there was also a totally original 50s which looked like it had just been rolled out of the factory, they were on oposite side's of the hall too and wondered if that was a request from the guy with the taste. ;D

Thats Martin Murrays scoot. Top Bloke. He has loads..in fact one of his is in scootering this month I rebuilt it all apart from the motor. Jb did that. I refitted it. Made loom and refitted most of the components. This was about 3 years ago. As Nik said its not a 90ss. I rode it. All I can say is dont fit lardys to smallies as the handling was scary.

Don't get me wrong, the paint job was mint, the motor looks like it had something about it too, but it just seems a shame to A put a lardy lump in a smallie, and B why oh why would you cut those loverly side pods off and ruin one of the finest back ends in the world by putting that pipe on it....
;D

Totally agree with all the above. I think that bike was done originally maybe 15 years ago. Back then it was the 'thing' to do. Martin does have a couple of genuine fully restored 90ss's. In fact I know the 90ss is his favourite bike. But going back-this lardy in a smally thing is a massive FAIL for me. I hate it. Why?

I have to say, just the prospect of a lardie engine in one of our beloved mounts horrifies me. Lardies should stay lardies and smallies should stay smallies. Sticking a PX motor into a smallframe is a bit like putting a horse's legs on a dog; it looks crap, it makes the result handle horrendously, and frankly it's just not the done thing. Apologies to all cutdown owners here, but taking off bits of perfectly good frame, be it legshield, floorboard, tail or bubble, is equally offensive to me. Unless it was damaged beyond repair in an accident or by rust and it had to come off anyway, there's not really much excuse for hacking up a sound scooter, especially something as special as an SS90. Both the frame and engine modifications seem horrendously unnecessary, and a waste of a perfectly good frame. Now, because the scoot above is guilty of all crimes aforementioned, I see it as nothing more than a hideous abortion of a scooter to serve only as a warning to others that although you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, it can certainly be done the other way around! Nobody even had the decency to make their crimes anywhere near subtle... The bottom two, on the other hand... EDIT - Just noticed it's a 50N frame. Whoever is responsible for this is a little bit less naughty because he hasn't hacked up an SS90, but my argument still stands. Oh, and 'scuse my venom spitting - I'm in a foul mood this evening, I'm afraid.

Sorry tony ,Martin thats right our other mate he nocks about with is mark I understand what you all say .....smally smally ....lardy lardy ,,,,,BUT im all up for the engineering side of things and not something thats been crashed into Halfords and all the bolt on accessories falling onto it .... soooosh and i have got a mate weve known for donkeys and he's had great satisfaction cutting, modifying ,sx2's ,tv's oh then finishing them off with a nice coat of matt black ..... And he is an amazing welder and engineer ..... He built a full bodied jet 200 with a Husquvaner 500 in it ......Quality....

I agree with 225Worb on this. The engineering is spot on even if it is a lardy motor. Wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that Lammy with the Husky lump as well, but not on here of course.

i must admit putting a p2 lump in a smallie once to get to torquay in 1991, it wasnt very pleasant, in fact the clutch snatch didnt help and when it shit itself the bike got lauched down an embankment on the A303
putting in a p range engine isnt really engineering, any halfwit could do it and i should know, but its wrong, just like fucking your sister

I remember seeing that bike when it was white ( can't recall the rally) yeah very clean but lardy lump in a smally = shite handling a lad who bought my older brothers PK cut it down and stuffed a P2 lump in it, rattled like a Anne Summers collection and didn't like right hand bends at all, bit of a dog in other words
