Hi guys, I've just realized that I haven't actually updated you all on how my scooter's getting on in a long time, although more than anything else I think this is probably because there hasn't really been much noteworthy progress in a long time! I've finally got a decent workbench organized in the workshop here, where I've managed to split the casings to do a few jobs. My big end bearing went, which really meant that the casings had to be split anyway, hence the motor's now in bits as can be seen in my pics. The stator also died, so because I was gonna split the casings and tune the nuts off this motor anyway, I might as well go and get a Parmakit electronic ignition kit. So I did! Anyway, I have that to fit, along with a Mazzucchelli full-circle, for the Malossi 136 kit that I'm going direct induction on, with the help of a Dell'Orto PHBL25. The resulting exhaust gases should be making an exit through a Simonini Down and Forward. I was looking at a 27/69 setup, but I'm open to suggestions on that... I've also stuck 4 plates and a stronger spring in the clutch, and I'm whacking a standard 4th gear on to make a bit better use of the power.
The frame I want to leave as is for the time being, I quite like the "pre-loved" look, with the slightly bent legshield from falling over and hitting it on the side of the trailer it was in at the time. That, and I can't really be bothered to strip that as well because everything seems to work OK, and I tend to live by the adage that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I was considering spraying it, but it's too much like hard work with college and work an' all, and I personally reckon the various chips and scratches all add to its charming patina, methinks!
Anyway, some pics for y'all.
EDIT - Check out the photobucket album below, I can't be bothered with resizing the pics that were here!
