I have just finaly finished putting my Polini engine together in my ET3 with all new internals got it running after months of saturdays in a workshop...started on the 4th kick! ....though the carb needs tuning this weekend........ But last sunday i bought a 1964 VBN that i am putting in a P200 engine and PX/K forks for the disc and 10 inch wheels. That means my smallframe no longer needs to be a daily driver, and no longer has to be very civilised So, should i stop where i am, buy a reed induction Parmakit and have a wilder bike? Or should i keep going with the Polini for a while. The rest of the set up is: Enlarged transfers Enlarged rotary pad mazza race crank PK lightend fly 24mm phbh PM Evo 48 tooth short 4th All new gears Uprated clutch Zirri Cruciform Can i just bolt the Parmakit on, will it be a huge difference over the Polini? Benefit of stopping now would be getting a better price for my Polini kit 2nd hand as it has only had 5 minutes of running time..... and having more fun with more power. And what is a polini worth with o.oo1KM on the clock?!? Thoughts, and / or 2nd hand polini kit buyers welcome ;D

Use the polini for a while but then again, Swallow won't be able to buy it off you. ;D For the parma direct intake you'll probably have to change the crank with a full circle one. Or you cuold get a rotary one.

Hi Tom,
You are Number 1... you have PM!
And Max, i had forgotten about the full circle and that would definitely be ideal, but called readspeed and they said the cut crank would be OK. I'll get a full circle for my first re-build.
So, any one care to guess what HP this tune would get in with a 24mm carb reed valve parma? I am thinking the polini would be about 12hp as a comparison.....
BTW anyone know benefits of the central plug compared to the side plug?

My thoughts are to get it going and rag it as is just now. ;D OK, thanks for that, I'm probably not the best person to ask this to today though.... My thoughts are if you have got it that far, then I am in aggreance with the others, Rag it mate, I don't think for one minute that you will be dissapointed with the Pollini. I ran a very similar setup baring the short 4th and found it more than enough to keep up with the 210's. I run/ran (until last night (will put up another post shortly)) an M1, and yes the power is more, and in my opinion smoother, but too be honest, unless you want to burn your clutches out whilst hanging over the bars every time you set off, then stick with what you have and put the money into your other project for now, £400 will get you well on your way I would have thought... ;D

Sorry to hear about the M1, not great news there....
And thanks for the thoughts re the Polini. If it will be as fast as my 210 then perhaps on drum brakes, that might be enough! I'll finish the carbs on saturday if all goes well and get my first smallframe / polini ride... watch this space......
