Hi there - today, I spotted the first PK50 I ever saw (not so common here) and I noticed it has a round headset (as opposed to my Primmy -82). Will a PK50 headset fit on a PV? I have handlebar indicators, can the handlebar inserts/assemblies be transplanted to the PK50 headset? If this works, I might be in the market for one. - that would give the Primmy a much more "vintage" look... (the round headsets found here are mostly V50 or pre-1973 Primmy, and if there´s one to be found at all, it`s either expensive or cracked - or both) So - what do you say - is this swap doable at all? Edit: is the PK50 3- or 4-speed? I could live with 4th gear having no indication on the PK handlebar, as long as it can be selected... Cheers /Richard

Most PKs were 4 speed but SOME were 3. It would physically swap over, but I think it would look too large for the primmy. try Italian ebay for a round primmy headset (search for manubrio) that's where I got one from. What headset is on your primmy? Jim

Looks fine mate - looks like a fifty special (especially with the 50 special horncast)
Think if you put a round one on you should go for primmy (bit bigger than v series)
Do you have the original horncast welded on to the frame under the plastic one?

That PV is bog stock original, as imported to Sweden. I just wish I had that old-skool horn cover, but underneath that hideous plastic cover it´s just flat..
(Just a few cosmetic bits to put right (horn cover deco strip, tank lever etc, plus a carb from madmax - then it´s MOT time!)

You can't fit a Special horncast over the metal one Jim, it's bare underneath.
That's either a 50 Special or made to look like one and it's a nice job too. The only models I know of fitted with that horncover were the Special and the SR50 (German market sports job with the SS / Sprinter 50 motor). The SR had a traditional Primmy headset which looks rather odd with the horncover but not too offensive. A PK headset most certainly will look offensive.

Well, I am happy you like it :-) - looks like the Swedes got special issues, too, then. This is a Primavera by VIN, by engine and in the paperwork. The handlebar indicators were forced upon the importer to comply with regulations, from 1973 and onwards IIRC.
Maybe that PK50 idea stinks cosmetically. I still dunno ;D

I know very little of the Scandanavian specs other than what I've learned on here. I love the look of the Special as with most Brits, Italians and Germans but at the end of the day it's your scooter to do with as you like Richard. Personally I think you'd ruin it by changing it but that's just my opinon.
If you must change it then use the solid Primavera style headset, the PK version will look ackward and clumbsy.

Yep, I agree. You talked me out of it. I just had a sharp look at various PK headsets and there´s a mix of angled and rounded design lines I don´t like. Plus the size and the feeling (from the side) of a watchtower searchlight . You´re right. Thanks for putting me right. /R
