This motor is being a real tosser now.Started jumping out of 2nd back into neautral. Its got a stronger selector spring and brand new (correct type) selector.Im thinking the drive lugs on the gear maybe worn, any ideas? Just means me stripping it after i told the mrs we can decorate the place as ive finished building bikes for a while now.

Is the gearbox shimmed correctly? Might need to invest in a DRT selector. ;D

Decorate the place with scooter stuff? This ss was in my living room for a year so guess she accepts in now.Dunno about pld engine parts though. The gearbox is shimmed well, made sre of that.Maybe a bit on the tight side but thats cool.Im assuming the 2nd gear drive lugs are worn but didnt know drt did a gear selector.Whats the difference? Will replace mine anyway when i strip it but may get a new 2nd gear.Just a Piaggio one.

The DRT gear selector is strenghtened.
Could be that the one you bought is an aftermarket one. They're crap, way to soft.

I've built a motor with a drt selector. It was an early one but it was as bad as a pattern one. The genuine one or zirri are what I would use.

That's what I have in my new motor. However, The DRT should have improved over the years, as the italians swear by it. @ Will, to find the original ones, is pot luck really. I bought one form SIP a while back, supposed to be original. It wasn't! It was really soft and the gears started jumping after only a few miles! When I took it out it was buggered.
