it looks like fuck book has killed this forum along with most of the other forums.
as the running cost of this forum is diddley squatt lets just hope that somone keeps the forum going as there is so much data and info accumulated here.
another thing that will keep the forum going is just checking in on a regular basis .
simple use it or we will loose it

It's not dead, it's just resting. I'm just about to start another upgrade project so that'll give you something to laugh at.

shame i could only give you one thumbs up.
so what's the project.
i think a few of us are getting ready for a race tuned zimmer frame. say LC350 engine, bin the rubber feet and fit a caster in each corner. the harder decisions would be where to fit the mirrors, badges, ariel, and squirrel tail.
happy crimbo to all

I knew nothing so gave it to a "specialist" in Newport who didn't do a very good job (leaking gear change and a shit paint job) I shipped it to Italy for me to use over there and then decided to restore one here to see if I could do it better than the specialist. I did a Nuova, then an ET3, then a Pro Cup engine project and finally a 50N. I shipped the Procup to Italy and brought the Primmy back to do a complete resto and engine upgrade.

I've been a member of this forum since 2008 and while I haven't been on here for a while ( no smallie at the mo) I have noticed the decline of it. Most of the old faces ( Max, Breezer , JSS and even boss man Juan) don't seem to visit and its seemed to have gotten worse in the last five years or so. The LCGB forum seems to truck along nicely but Scooterotica seem to be on life support as well- shame really. I don't know if this is down to social media sites taking people away or just folks not caring anymore. I find forums a nice haven from the caustic and dividing nature of social media. Paul

its fuckbook that is killing the forums and its all forums. i gave up on scooterotica a few years ago as it was just full of banner adds. the lcgb site will continue as that is where the lcgb info is posted.
the likes of true member forums are what is dying and its worldwide.

I don't know if this is down to social media sites taking people away or just folks not caring anymore. I find forums a nice haven from the caustic and dividing nature of social media. Paul breezer hasnt been around for years that i can remember , juan i'm told is very busy elsewhere but checks in as a guest . max i know checks up regularly but doesnt post , OZ is very busy off winning porche races ,well he's the engineer/head mechanic . he's still got his smallies ,well the rotax one an the polini sprinter at least ,his 90SS he gave too his wife as a wedding present . but yes this like most forums is being starved off input by social media ,people want instant answers ,even if its mostly garbage they get told .i'm active on the scooter pages on facebook ,its how i get work an trade parts . but the bickering an backbiting is hard too stomach ,an the snobbish replys to some newbie questions is particularly galling . its not to bad on tiks everything smallframe page ,max is admin there ,along with other former members from here .but on other pages its a regular bunfight every day an i tend not too visit those unless i have too . it is nice to run into old faces from here over there ,as they tend to stick too the nicer behaviour this place is use too . an theres a much lower bullshit tolerance on here ,an a avoidance of profiteers an scammers .something fuckbooks overun with ,but has never been tolerated on here .i often try to increase footfall here by directing people to certain threads in answers to questions .sometimes successfully ,but mostly they just come as guests an dont join or post anything .just use this place as a source of info ,so just taking an giving nothing back . i must admit ,i mostly use this place as a archive for builds an projects an work done for others nowadays . I’m sure things will liven up in the spring , I’m like a tortoise and hibernate a bit in winter these days and guess a few others do . H is an old trooper and seems constantly busy even in the depths of winter 😀 Just finished putting up a second hand prefab garage just for scooter and related stuff ( I don’t care about the car )
I refuse to use Facebook , hate it’s insidious nature but we are in the minority.
Anyone purchased scootering magazine these days ? I haven’t got one for a while as it seems half the thickness and twice the price !

I think if it was easier to upload photos on the forum , there might be abit more use on here.

its just the way proboards run the forums no direct posting of photos = less bandwidth = cheaper = more profit.
the price of free hosting.
and we dont get bombed with adds to the same extent as the other forums
but yes the photo thing can be a pain

I just use IBB Photo. It's free and easy to use. You upload your photo then it gives you a BB code and you just copy and paste it into the post.

First time I've visited the forum in years and first thread I see is this one, so I feel partly responsible. I sold my Primmy a couple of years ago and got a TX hence my absence. I'd have been completely lost without you lot though. Will try to pop by more often.

Hi Folks, newbie here. Hopefully the forum won't die. I have just joined it as I bought a motovespa PK125S recently. I have had scooters since 1982 but know next to nothing about small frames and can find scant information like torque settings for it. The thing has some oddities compared to the Italian built ones. the crank and cases appear to be ETS and I can't find a new inlet manifold in this country so looks like I have to go to SIP or repair the old one. Nick Benvenuto! There are many knowledgeable people on here that will answer your questions. Might take a day or two unlike FB but the info will be spot on. They've helped me restore 7 so far. Top people! Dai at www.onsmallwheels.co.uk can get you any part you need. The prices and delivery are good too.

I have started using Dai Payne recently including for my P2's. Adie Horrocks put me on to him. Dealing with him reminds me of when I used to go into proper scooter shops like Horners in Manchester and they knew what they were on about.
