Edit from 2022 after taking the thread down to get the paperwork done:
In August 2021 I asked here about getting paperwork for UK registered Bajaj that has ended up in Finland. Edited the text away since it appeared that the scooter has to be in UK if I wanted to get the paperwork for it.
When I bought the scoot it looked like this
Still had the plate with it and an old tax disc
Engine was in parts in a box

a vehicle without V5 but still on dvla register in uk you apply for a new v5 with form v62 an it costs £25 .they write to the previous owners address asking if they still own the scooter an if after 2 weeks theres no reply issue the new v5 . but i dont think they will do that to a address outside the uk ,an i dont suggest you ring and ask them .if its a definite no they will put a note on the file an close other avenues . in the uk vehicles without v5 an not on dvla records can be 1st registered with a dating certificate an other documents an get a age related plate .might be worthwhile visiting or ringing your local office an explaining the situation an asking advice .H

Thanks to henri I got the hang of the process. Because of Brexit the local inspection station did not have any means to get the registration data from DVLA so I had to get lil bit creative. It turned out that a colleague of mine has a relative in UK and was willing to give me a hand with DVLA. I printed out the V62 form, filled it up with my information along a UK address. Scanned the paper and sent it to my helper to be printed out and mailed to DVLA with £25 payment. For some reason the first letter got lost in the process and was re-sent after two months of waiting. The day finally came in February 2022 and I got my hands on the god forsaken document. Couple days later I was off to the inspection station with the scooter. After checking the VIN, getting some dimensions it took couple hours of paperwork from the staff to get the information filed in the registry correctly. It appeared that they had to create the manufacturer from scratch, since this is the first Bajaj in Finland that is actually registered as Bajaj. Handful of others have been registered as Vespa in manufacturer name. After having lunch I picked these papers up. After the inspection it was time to tax the scoot. After getting my tax statement and paying a whopping 16 and something eur of tax I was off to the inspection station again to get local plates for the scoot.

It definitely was but I took it as a challenge. Paid 300eur for the scoot itself and almost another 300eur for the things associated with registration.
It was also first time that I worked on a largeframe engine. Of course kitted it with VMC 177 cylinder since the original was missing. Also put in a new crank because old one had given up in 1995 or 1996 after just 1600km or so.

Even with all the work, the paper work and additional costs I think you have a bargain and something well worthwhile
You could form the local Bajaj club

Cheers!
I've seen a handful of Bajajs registered over here. One of them was ran over by a car pretty badly though and was for sale on wrecker's auction.
We already have a forum like this one (peltiskootteri.net) which literally translates to "sheet metal scooter". As the name says, it focuses on these older scooters rather than the plastic ones.

Peltiskootteri has a nice ring to it and the translation is great
